Kevin in his prime pushed 4 plates overhead. Shawn was strong, specialy for his size, but he just wasn't on Kevin's league.

One thing i dont understand is why the pros pyrimad upwards? i go downwards so that i can go to failure on each set... Sure i warm up first so i dont get injured, but pyrimiding upwards you cant use as much weight.. and dont go to failure every set.

^ Because they are so incredibly strong that the have to pyramid up to the highest weight they use or else they'd get injured frequently. I pyramid up to my work weight, for my first compound exercise then stay with that weight for 2 sets. Everyone with any training experience does the same.

I think Flang was really complemeting Kevin on the form. It was perfect! That's exactly the rhythm I've always used because I feel it in my delts much better this way than standing totally still.
15 strict reps with 55's, not bad!

Sounds like you would injure yourself doing that. When you pyramid up, you are basically warming your muscles up and if you do it right, can still do a good amount of weight and it helps with max. You never jump into high weight without warming up first and pyramiding is kind of like that.

warming up is to lubricate the joints and get some blood flow in the muscle. you dont need heavy weight to do that.

No I was being sarcastic.
There is alot of body english going on. I know I shouldn't be critisizing the form of a Pro BB'er but being a video on technique and correct form it's a little contradictive.

No mate you dont injure yourself because you warm up properly. If you say that you do 5 sets of an excercise and your pyrimidng up for 3 of those sets really you havnt trained your muscles the hradest. Dorian yates pyramided the opposite way like i do..

If you listened to them they even explained the "rhythm" they use.
Being totally strict is for girls bro, I hope you aren't doing them that way if you are trying to get big delts...
Leaning foward slightly stretches your delts, then going back contracts the delts alot better than when standing totally still throughout the movement.

That's why you don't count the LIGHT warm ups as work sets. If you say you did 3 sets of an exercise, then you should not count the sub-maximal warm up sets.
And Majors is totally right about Dorian. He did like an infinity of warm-ups before his ONE all out work set.

BTW- Over at Getbig, where Shawn actually posts regularly, he showed his gratitude in my thread with this clip by saying it was "classic"!
LOL, I thought that was pretty cool.
I talk to Lee Priest all the time over there, it's great!

No he didnt, he did it the conventional way, each set getting progressively heavier.....
By goin heavier with each set you do you tire the muscle you've already use don the last set quicker and thus need to recruite muscle thats deeper down in the muscle.....which causes more growth.
By pyramiding down, you tire the muscle on top with the heavy set, and then use that same band of muscle again in the next lighter set because the weight isnt sufficient to exhaust that muscle, then you go lighter still and use the same badn of muscle, yeah this exhausts the muscle.....but only one band of fibres and believe me, this isnt the best way to get maximum growth.
You just tire the same bit of the muscle over and over.....and the deeper tiussue remains un touched!!!

I used to watch this show all the time. Lee Haney had his own show too. There was another lifting show that had this asian girl with huge boobs, and some bodybuilder that looked like Bob Chic. I was like ten so I don't remember too much about them.

Body Shaping and flex are still on every morning on the Healthy living channel. Flex is on a 6:30 weekday mornings, and body shaping is right after that i think. They need a new show like that, flex is like 15 years old.
