Photo from my first competition.
This is my first time posting here so hello to everyone.
I entered the 2006 Iron City Classic in Pittsburgh, PA. It was the first time I'd ever been to a show like that. I've never even been to one as a spectator. I was working out pretty hard, but only had five weeks to prepare for it. Going through all that dieting wasn't the most pleasant thing. But I enjoyed the competition itself and plan to do more natural bodybuilding competitions like that. I took home three 1st place trophies. 35+ tall / 35+ overall / open middleweight.
Still waiting for my photo CD and video from the show. I hope they're good.
Later.

Three first place trophies in the first show you ever attended in any form? Great going, and quite remarkable! And you look great in the photo.

Did I read that properly that you only prepared 5 weeks for the show? Do you just stay ridiculously lean year round?

Thanks for the kind replies
Yes I only had 5 weeks to prepare once I decided to do it. I wasn't super lean before that, but I did watch what I ate. At 5 weeks out I was about 203. Went down to about 183. Weighed in at 187 the day of the show. I'm about 6'1" and figured I'd need to make middleweight to have a better chance. So I might have lost more weight than needed.
I basically joined the gym out of boredom, after 2 1/2 years of no exercise and getting away with one meal a day. But I knew that if I was gonna do it I was gonna do it right. So I committed myself at that point. I joined the gym in Jan 05 and started working out with a trainer. First time I ever had someone to guide me. What a difference it made though. I'd never be at this point without him. Never had any intention of competing though. I'd never been around anyone involved with that. My trainer and others at the gym persuaded me to try it. I was gonna wait until Battle for the Swords in Sept, but did this one just to see what it's all about. So now the first time jitters are out of the way.

You've been working out for 16 months and you look like that? :O I imagine before those 2.5 years you used to lift alot as well, although maybe not with a trainer... that much progress in 16 months from someone who has never lifted is unheard of, and I would even go as far as to say impossible o_O Great job man, you have an amazing body.

Well I'm naturally on the leaner side. Don't know if that's good or bad. I need to bulk up my legs. But yes I've listened to my trainer and try to do everything right. I plan on entering Battle for the Swords in Sept. and Yorton Cup III in Nov.
This was my first week back into a routine after eating myself silly for a week after the show. I have no desire to eat out anymore so I guess that's good.

Yes I've worked out off and on for the last 10 years or so. But never seriously. I may have thought I lifted seriously before, until I started with a trainer then I realized what I should be doing. I never did squats or deadlifts. I never benched with a bar. Never paid attention to what I ate.
Funny because when I first started with my trainer I was telling him what I used to lift. You know, trying to save face because I was fairly weak. Well soon enough I blew those numbers out of the water.

the thing i would focus on most at this point is your posing and remember to flex your legs... the muscle is there, just need to show it better

Yep that's exactly what I'm focusing on. Refine the posing. Flex head to toe. Add some bulk to legs.

Oh they're all excellent, no doubt about it. That one really caught my eye. Both shoulder and tricep is just ripped, even with not the best oil I've seen it still stands out so so clearly. Amazing.
Keep it up!
