ok, i have a knee condition where my patella on both knees is a little higher, making them very vunerable to slip out of place, which ive done to my left knee at least 10 times, and every time it puts me down form even walking normally for a good 2-3 weeks. I literally feel my joints fall out of place, bone and sinew grind, and then (hopefully) pop back into place. Crazy swelling occurs, but then it eventually goes away. I was wondering what i could do to strengthen my knee to where this isnt a problem? Ive been doing leg press, leg curls and extentions, but i still feel that this isnt enough. Any way i can strength my ligaments and make sure this dosent happen again? Its very painful and its made me scared to run, walk across slippery surfaces, or bump my knee. Any help would be very beneficial, thanks in advance

First of all, I am not a doctor, and this isn't a good place to get medical advice. So take anything I say with a grain of salt.
Second, it just makes sense to me that you need more work BELOW the knee, because things like leg extensions tend to pull up on the frontal knee area. I'm a big believer in balance with body parts...it cures a lot of problems people have when things get out of whack.
Third, you need more advice in this thread with more people than just myself. If nobody else will reply then I don't want to be the one responsible for causing any further problems. It's just my 2 cents, ok?Time To Re-Schedule

haha i appreciate your input, its just that i know many people here know alot about the human body and was hoping that someone with a good base of knowledge could help me. As far as your advice, its not gonna solve my problems magically, but it has brought to my attention that i was neglecting that area and i thank you for that.

but the muscle you need to strengthen is your vmo (vastus medialis oblique). And stay away from the exercises that aggrevate it.
if you've got a subluxing patella it will never be perfectly stable. but you can increase its stabilty by increase the strength of your vmo.
