# Thread: Average 100m Dash

1. ## Average 100m Dash

What is the average 100m dash time for a high school athlete? Also if i run a 4.9 fourty yard dash around what time what my 100m dash be?

2. These are just average times, not fast times...

and a 4.9 40 should be about a 12.5 40.

3. not to put you down or anything but your 4.9 for the 40 is probably something like 5.20FAT which would be around 13seconds for the 100m.

Are you talking track here, or high schoolers in general?

5. first of all the 100 m dash and the 40 yard dash is two completely diff races. one is based on quickness (40) and one is based in pure speed , power and endurance.. training for the 40 therefore will be diff then the 100, and with your 40 time its hard to calculate your 100 b/c people accelerate at diff points of running.. i.e i ran 10.87 FAT in the 100 at a regional meet and placed 2nd, and i clock around 4.41 in the 40. the guy who won ran 10.38 and runs a 40 in high 4.4's ..

6. Senior year I ran a 10.7 100 YARD, so I don't know what that is equivalent to.
I also ran a 4.56 40

7. I really dont know what you mean when you say "average high school athlete"?
b/c in football for instance, youll hav the receiver times, and then youll have the o-line times...lol
anyway i ran an 11.8 as a freshman, and my 40 is somewhere around 4.7..

8. Another example of people accelerating at different rates, my best 100m was 10.52 (FAT) and I was also clocked under 4.2 in the 40... All start no finish... Well actually i need to work on my top speed, I can hold it pretty well. high 21s for 200m.
