creatine and caffeine! do they cancel each other out?
hey
a mate of mine was saying today that his sports nutrionist told him that drinking caffeine filled drinks while on creatine negates the positive effects that it can have in training. has anyone else heard anything of this?

no, they don't cancel each otehr out, but caffeine is a diruetic, so it draws back some water that the creatine could be using to fill your muscles, just drink more water and you're fine..

I think it's only when you mix it with something caffeinated, or acidic. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you should be fine if you just take the creatine with water. If you are really concerned wait a couple hours after you take the creatine. By then it will have been absorbed into your muscles. Don't forget to drink a lot of water.

caffeine does limit creatine.
creatine puts water and nutrients into the muscles; caffeine acts as a diuretic and takes this water out.
cut down on the caffeine if you're taking creatine.

WCC is right. Caffeine acts like a thermogenic and diuretic while Creatine is volumizing your muscle cells with water.

You guys talk about caffein as if its lasix or something. Caffeine is only a mild diuretic. If you stay well hydrated you will have no problem consuming creatine and caffeine together. Past research suggested that creatine and caffeine compete for receptors in the body therefore cancelling each other out. New research shows both have their own separate receptors in the body.
