Max Muscle store/protein
While waiting for my ON protein to get in the mail, I picked up some protein from a chain store (Max Muscle). It was pretty pricey (>$30 for 2 lbs) and I'm wondering if any of that price has to do with quality or if they just overcharge. It tastes really good and mixes better than my other protein I've tried. It also mentions that 'the protein is derived from an ion-exchange, triple filtration and enzyme hydrolyzation extraction process." Can anyone translate that into good/bad for me?
I can't see myself using this all of the time (cost$$) but it does taste/mix pretty damn good.

Max Pro Super Protein Concentrate is a powerful blend of whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and potassium caseinate. Max Pro contains over 300% more bio-available protein than regular whey protein. More bio-available protein means higher nitrogen retention, resulting in faster recovery and increased muscle growth. Each scoop of Max Pro contains 30 grams of SPC professional protein, our proprietary super concentrated protein blend. MaxPro tastes great and has no chalky aftertaste. All 5 awesome flavors are instantized for easy mixing. (Available in 2 lbs. and 4 lbs.)

Mainly overpriced, as it is not much different in ingredients than Optimum Nutrition Whey.

That's what I was afraid of. They have a pretty slick little magazine/brochure and are often hosting 'meet pro bodybuilder xxx' days at the stores. I guess all of that promo costs $$$.

Remember, by purchasing your ON whey via the internet, you are paying drastically lower prices than a retail store. ON isn't that much less than the Max Muscle brand as far as Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. However, the one you have right now is pricier. They are essentially the same item but the ON isn't as tasty or easy to mix, as you say. There are definitely pros and cons to buying online. The pros, obviously, are the price and convenience. The cons, and therefore the pros of buying locally, are speaking with a knowledgable sales person, getting advice aimed at your individual goals, and the ability of picking up something, something that should be explained properly to you, right away without the wait for shipping. The internet, and its low prices, isn't going anywhere but eventually all G_Cs and local health food stores will be gone.

I use the Max Muscle brand products. I love the No product( Full Blown extreme) and I use the Max Pro protien powders. Simply put, I feel they are of better quality and taste. It mixes very smooth and tastes great!! I will pay the extra few bucks for the fact that it simply tast the best and makes having my shakes a treat. My Max Muscle store has a punch card that allows me to get $24 off a purchase after buying so many products.( which isnt too many). so that feature is nice. I will stick with Max Muscle products, IMO they work for me.

best protein by far that ive tasted. The owner of the st louis max muscle is upfront, honest, and has never tried to push a product on me. you go into gnc, and they will push any product on you regardless what your goals are. A GNC guy tried to sell me some prohormones when i was 16, and he did not mention the need for pct, such as milk thistle, 60xo, etc.. Their prices are a little high, but I feel like that are legit products. Their Kre-alkalyn is good, full blown extreme is better than N.O. Explode. They actually list what is in the full blown extreme, when you look at BSN's N.O. explode, there are asterisks besides the ingrediants...so what the Fu%k are you getting? nobody knows.
