Rachel_n_SD's MP and Sesamin log
Hello everyone, and welcome to my log. I want to start off by thanking everyone who voted for me and to the peeps at DS and Scivation as well.
To introduce myself, my name is Rachel, I am 23, and I work as a contractor for the Navy. I have a 4 year old son and a 24 year old BF.
I have never done a log before, so I'll start off with a little...
BACKGROUND
I spent most of my life looking slightly chunky but generally athletic. I played competetive softball until I was 16, and then I joined the Army after high school, both of which kept me in relatively good shape. Then, I got pregnant with my son, and ballooned up to 215 lbs. My son was a moose, he weighed almost 11 lbs, no excuse, I know.
So after that, I initially lost 50 lbs doing Atkins, but then hit a massive plateau, which I would later find out was caused by Depo-Provera. I started doing Body-for-Life, and managed to get down to 150. BFL is what got me started weight training.
I was stuck at 150 until I got deployed to Iraq, and I dropped all the way down to a skinny 117 lbs during my first 2 months there, due mostly to lack of food, and the fact that I was walking around wearing 50lbs of gear in 130 degree weather.
I got back, did a mini-bulk up to 123, and stayed there for a long time, until last year a furniture-moving injury kept me out of the gym for several months, during which I ended up at 138lbs. This January, I got back into the gym, and am currently at around 130, although I fluctuate anywhere from 127-132 on any given day.
DIET
My diet will consist of between 1500-1700 calories a day, depending whether it is cardio day or training day. I don't stress exact ratios too much, it drives me crazy, but I will be making sure I am eating at least 130gm protein every day, and that all my calories are clean. I prefer to eat about 95% clean all the time, with rare modest cheats, rather than nazi-strict with massive binges.
TRAINING
I will do cardio on Mon, Wed, Fri. It will consist of running about 4-5 miles.
I will do a fullbody workout on Sun, Tues, Thurs. It will look like this:
Squats, SLDL's, Military Press, DB Rows, Lunges, DB press.
I will cycle heavy, medium, and light days as follows:
Heavy-3 x 5
Medium- 2 x 10
Light- 3 x 15
I will finish it off with a quick 2-mile run. I will also be occasionally hiking on Saturdays with my mommy.
As for supplements, I will only be taking the MP and Sesamin, and I will be starting off with the full dose with both of them; I found through taking lipidfx that I am not too sensitive to TTA so this shouldn't be a problem.
Alas, I still haven't received my Sesamin so I am just waiting on that and then I will begin updating daily.
This thread is now becoming really long, so I will conclude with my 'before' picture, which is me as of 5/23/06.
Please ignore the wierd expression on my face...

Good luck! I hope it turns out well for you. I bought a bottle of sesamin/campholic a couple of months ago but haven't started yet. I'm a little concerned lately after seeing some threads where people were saying it was worthless.
It will be good to see some real life feedback.

Welcome aboard! Good to see your log started... good luck with your goals -- sounds like you know what you want to get out of the next 30 days, and you know how to get there...

good call! told you guys it is my first log.
i just realized i forgot my starting measurements too.
short term goal:
get to 15% BF
long term goal:
stay at 15% BF
I dont have a specific weight in mind that i want to be, plus im pretty small already. i just want to get to a level of bodyfat where i am as shredded as i can possibly be while still being healthy, so i figure 15% is a reasonable figure to achieve/maintain. im guessing that right now i am probably around 20% or so-the only place where i am not visibly lean is my legs right now.
starting measurements are:
arms-11
chest-37
waist-27
hips-37
i want to get my waist to around 25, and my hips to 35. hopefully my chest stays at 37, since it's not exactly big as it is..
just an update, btw-fedex said my sesamin will be delivered today, so hopefully i can actually begin updating this log by tomorrow.

well, after some careful thought, i have a change to make. for my diet i will being doing a TKD as laid out by HalleluYAH, basically < 20gms of carbs on cardio days, and 110 gms on training days (post workout). i will be having a once weekly refeed on Saturdays.
still no sesamin-apparently the customer service rep from fedex lied to me-they said it will not be delivered until after June 1st!

well everybody,
yo tengo buenas noticias-
-i received my sesamin so i am officially starting my log.
day 1.
don't have that much to say yet-i started the morning off with 2 MP's and 1 sesamin. I don't feel anything yet, but that is to be expected, as it is only the first day. i will be taking the full dose, along with my lunch and dinner.
normally i will be working out on my lunch break, but today i will not be taking one, so i will have to talk about my workout on monday, although i will be running 5 miles tonight.
on monday i will update with more on day 1, and days 2,3.
until then, have a great weekend

Awesome Rachel!
Starting out with the full dose? Are you not working up to it because of the lipidfx you were on?
Have a great weekend too!

-so i have 1 month to be "bikini ready"

el golfo de santa clara. normally i go to san felipe so i dont know what it's like there.
anyways, an update to my log:
over the weekend, all was going fine until saturday night-i got violently ill, stomach pains, vomiting, etc. not sure if it was related to the MP, but just in case, i cut the dosage in half and seem to be fine now.
what i have noticed so far:
i am very very thirsty. also, i am retaining alot of water, especially in my stomach, despite the fact that most days i am not eating carbs.
these two things seem to be reported by alot of people, so i guess that means the supplement is working?
i will be weighing myself tomorrow so i will post my new stats then.

an update:
stomach cramps are completely gone, but excess thirst is still there. i took my measurements this morning, and here they are:
arms 11.5 (up 0.5 in?!)
waist 27 (same)
hips 27 (same)
bellybutton (32-down 1 in)
chest 36 (down 1 in-****!)
so no change except for in my chest (dammit) and around my bellybutton. I feel leaner but my weight is the same. im hoping the 0.5inch increase in my arms is just water weight, i thought they looked bigger, so i guess it wasnt my imagination.
yesterday was my workout, i was at 15rm. i noticed pretty much no difference in terms of strength or endurance.
so far I have had only one cheat day (sunday), not too extreme, only 2500 calories consumed as i still felt sorta sick, so my diet shouldnt be a factor in my not having lost any lbs yet.

DS get's all the beautiful woman doing their logs. I'm using Sesamin right now per Layne for my cutting diet. I might add some MP down the road. Good Luck!

The chicks dig DS. Not sure why since we're all quite homely, but hey, we're nice.....that has to count for something.
Deser, just FYI, you won't become a good looking woman if you use MP......that'd be a most unwanted side-effect in most.

another update, i guess this is...day 6? yeah, day 6.
i just worked out right now during my lunch break, at 10RM today. i still noticed no change in terms of endurance or strength.
let me just say, holy ****, i am hungry. it started about 2 days ago with some mild hunger, last night i had to snack on a bunch of celery and i drank like 4 cups of tea to try to prevent a massive cheat. i have been averaging 1600 calories a day which usually has me somewhat hungry, but not terribly so.
right now i feel like those old bugs bunny cartoons where they look around and everybody turns into roasting chickens and stuff.
other than that, everything is fine, i am anxiously awaiting my cheat day on sunday...

Your increased hunger is a common side effect of TTA. Mine went through the roof also, so don't sweat it.

well, i caved in last nite and had a burger and fries. so i feel much better now, the insane monster hunger pangs are gone. sucks though, because now it is another week and a half before i get another cheat day, it was supposed to be this saturday or sunday. that's the price i have to pay for cheating, i suppose.
on a positive note, i woke up this morning only slightly bloated. usually the post-cheat morning i look like a puffy freak, but not so bad today.
so i kicked off the morning with some flax bread and SF yogurt, and am about to eat my lunch of chicken and broccoli (mmmmm...)
i have noticed something recently, not just over the past week of supplementation with MP, but over the previous 1.5 months using lipidfx-
-my skin has tighted up alot, and i mean ALOT.
i have some loose skin on my stomach from my pregnancy, which never seems to go away, but it is looking phenominally better, in fact, you can hardly notice it at all anymore, except about a 4-in radius around my bellybutton. also my stomach stretchmarks are definitely appearing to be more shallow. i saw a pic of myself in a bikini over the weekend, and i was like, WTF, my stomach looks NORMAL!?
is this an effect of TTA? because i have been taking sesamin for over 6 months now, and noticed nothing of that sort, it is just over the past couple months of TTA supplementation that i have noticed this..
uhockey?

My assumption would be that the subdermal water retention of TTA is causing a flattening out of the "loose skin." I have a lot of abdominal loose skin from previous being QUITE overweight, and I've noticed that when using TTA I look significantly "smoother."

makes sense. does that mean it will go away once i stop supplementing with TTA?
to 40-yard-dash, yeah, sometimes i feel as if i absolutely need to cheat, sometimes not. i have times when cheat day arrives, and i dont really feel i need to, so i just do a refeed. there are some times when i feel like im going to go crazy if i dont cheat, so i do.
which brings me to an update-
-so, my diet basically went completely out the window this weekend, starting saturday morning, i was stuck in a place where i basically had to either cheat, or not eat **** the whole day. and long story short, it lasted the whole weekend.
i still continued taking the stack the whole time, so i feel somewhat bloated but not bad.
i also was unable to work out the whole weekend, since i was away from the gym during the only hours that they have childcare, and i had nobody to babysit.
so yeah, crappy weekend to report. but, it's monday so all i can do is start over. so tomorrow i will have something more productive to report on.
