Whats up guys,
I was just thinking about doing some squats with my streangth shoes on. They are the kind that strap on to your shoes.
What do you guys think of that? Anyone ever tried it...if so, did you see gains in your calves? The reason I am asking is because I would like to really hit my calves as well as hams and quads during my squats. Odvisouly I probrably won't be able to do as much weight, but don't you think that it would really work the calves?
Thanks
mike

If you must, do some isolation exercise for your calves separate from your squat routine. I am not quite sure what you mean by strength shoes, but I do not like the idea at any rate.
Also, do not get in a habit of squatting with regular tennis shoes on. You will be thankful when the poundages get really heavy. Our kind has never been seen before.
And when the last of us are gone,
We will never be seen again.
Because there is a secret behind our creation,
And secrets like this only come around once.

Strength shows basically put the foot at an extreme angle so that the calves are fully isolated. In other words, all of the weight will be on his calves.
This is a terrible idea and a recipe for injury. Do not do this. Listen to me. Squating with your weight shifted forwards causes your upper body to pitch forward and your knees to buckle together, this is not avoidable, even with lightweight.
When squatting, you should push with the back half of your feet, NOT your calves.
Again, do not do this...you will very likely experience some type of injury. At best you will merely develop terrible form on your squats, which is not a good thing."You are what your deep, driving desire is. As your desire is, so is your will. As is your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny."-
