I wanna tan. I've really bad tshirt-tan lines. I want a semi-permanent tan, not those rubon things that go away after a shower or few days. What's a good product, and how long does it usually take to get a good tan?

You got a car man? Go clean it all up on a nice sunny day and I mean all up. Make that thing shine like the day it came off the lot. That's what I do, takes me a good five hours and my back is pretty dark now. Spend a lot of time outside without a shirt, read a book or something in your backyard.
Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

1. Regular Sunless Tanner- This is a tan applied in the form of a lotion. it tans to its full color usually in the first application. it will usually last 5 days to a week, depending on your activities, how often you shower etc..
2. Gradual Tanner- These tanners are also applied in the form of a lotion, but they will slightly tan your skin over a period of time till they reach the full color. one application lats about 2-4 days, but you're supposed to apply it daily, every other day, or whenever to maintain your tan. These are great if you dont want to be suddely tan, as a regular sunless tanner will make you.
3. Bronzer- This is more like body makeup than a tanner. It is usually applied in a lotion, but gives you an instant tan. These tans, however, wash off in the shower. Many Sunless tanners have a little bit of bronzer in them so you can see where you're applying it.
4. Aerosol Tanners- These are sunless tanners that will spray out of a can or bottle. It speeds up the process of rubbing lotion over your whole body, and may give a more even tan depending on the skill of application.
Making a choice of which kind of tanner you choose first will influence how you think of sunless tanners, and if you want to continue them.
But first it is important to learn how to apply them. Sunless tans will require more work than a regular tan because you must take the time first to apply it, but you will also have to prep your skin before every application. this is called exfoliating, and usually its done in the shower. basically, get a wet towel with a little soap on it, and rub your skin (not hard but gently) as if you are wiping off the dead skin cells. This helps to make a more even sunless tan.
Next, you apply the tanner, and the methods are slightly different depending on which type of tanner you have selected.
Finally, you will have to make sure your newly applied tan gets time to develop (most people let it develop overnight. besides bronzers, sunless tans are not instant. The tan forms when Dihydroxyacetone reacts with the protein in dead skin cells) It is important give the tan about 30 minutes to an hour to dry by not touching it on anything. Wear light clothes afterward, you can move around with it. It will not fully develop until 6-12 hours later.
Sunless tanning products are not created equal. Buying a wal-mart brand tanner will have a different outcome than lets say Lacome brand. Below, i will list some good sunless tanners and their specs.
1. Loreal Sublime Bronze - Regular Sunless Tanner + Bronzer- comes in medium and dark, and has a light bronzer as a guide. Great color, and last unusually long for a sunless tanner.
2. Loreal Sublie Glow - Gradual Sunless Tanner- best gradual i've tried, good color, also contains many moistureizers.
3. Coppertone Gradual Tan- darker tan than Loreal, but i thought the color was a little strange, what i liked about it was that it was oil free.
i gotta leave for school so im gonna wrap up this post. After read this, make your decision of whether you want to go for sunless tanners. Theres always the benefit of not having to absorb those uv rays, which will show themselves later in life.Last edited by CY.; 05-24-2006 at 05:15 AM.

Well, you can always mow your lawn with your shirt off? I don't use lotions or anything, and get a good tan just chillin in the sun. Try it.
Besides, tanning in the sun right now is on clearence. Actually, I think it might even be free as of now. Go look and tell me if you find a huge flaming ball of gas in the sky. If so, take your shirt off and don't move.

During the summer I almost always have my shirt off just to get that good looking tan...a really dark tan helps make you look SOOOOO much bigger and more defined...girls love it to death...I strongly urge you guys to make time to get out in the sun and quit being little girls sitting inside all the damn time.

i don't want to go to a tanning salon. I live in California so there's sun everywhere. I want to know what product I can use while basking in sun that'll help me get tan faster. Should I just use Sunblock?
I was thinking of buying one of these products from bb.com store
Pro Tan High Octane Fiery Hot
Bask Premium Blend Accelerator
Pro Tan Sun Fuel Accelerator
has anyone tried them?Last edited by gotritons; 05-25-2006 at 06:17 PM.
