what makes it greek? its strained as u probably realized its thicker than regular yogurts. what makes it great? there are no artificial ingredients or sweeteners and it has live yogurt cultures.

there was actually still is a discussion that the live cultures destroy the natural sugars in it before they get digested so its practically digested as 0 carb and 0 sugar food, now when that theory gets proven i will call that day national holiday and go buy 100 boxes of greek yogurt

I know this thread is old, but i was stil wondering as to what greek yoghurt was like OP said. COuld someone further clarify? Would it be a good substitute of CC cos it does get boring after a while.

Normal yogurt has both the whey and casein parts included inside the product. The whey part carries most of the sugar.
In greek yogurt a good portion, if not all of the whey is strained out through various methods, leaving you with a thicker product with less sugar.
Yes, it is an excellent substitute for cottage cheese. The kind that I have has the same amount of carbs as my CC. If you put protein in it, it is so thick it almost is like ice cream.
