Question How many calories for losing weight and retaining muscle???

how many calories should I be getting a day, if i wanna drop some serious weight(fat), and not lose any muscle???
I train 7 days a week, and do about an hour of cardio 7 days a week as well.

    about 10X your body weight.

    200 Lbs X 10 = 2000 calories.

Thats ballpark, you may have to adjust by as much as 5% depending on your metabolism. Some people have a very high metabolism. Just make sure you are getting at least a gram of protein per LB of weight. And look into some glutamine.

I totally agree, thats WAY too much to do man. Yeah you'll lose weight all right, but you will also lose a **** load of muscle too. 7 hours of cardio a week is too much. Plus whats your lifting split look like, ie Mon-chest/shoulders, Wed-Bi's/Tri's......etc. If you train each body part more that 2 times a week than your overtraining! More is not better in this case, it takes time. If you continue at that rate, you will end up losing alot of muscle. I do cardio about 3-4 times a week, with 3 sessions = 20-30min high intensity and 1-2 sessions @ 10-15 min high intensity. Even with that Im afraid I will lose muscle.

Yeah sounds like your training is burning you out; your starting to overtrain. Just take it down a notch, and you should be fine.

How much is too much cardio? Between wrestling practice and my boxing workouts I'm sure I do more than that. Plus I will usually do one or two HIIT sessions a week.
