Sold well? In reference to how many playstation units? Oh, that's right.

N64: 32 million units.
Playstation: 102 million units.

The Playstation's followup, the PS2, sold even more units (103.6 million) whereas Nintendo's followup Gamecube went down, to 20.61 million units.

So yeah, Nintendo's been slipping.

Nintendo was just the first to bring the analog stick into the gaming world.

yes yes i know that much, i said DUAL analog sticks...... sony had the first controller with 2 analog sticks which let you move your character and look around at the same time. This one controller alone made FPS's on consoles actually playable

Nintendo is truly the most innovative console company ever. They have always been about innovation. They invented so much and brought so much to console gaming. While I am a fan of all three, I'm just saying, give credit where credit's due.

i give credit where credit is due... i will own a Wii at one point, as i am really looking forward to the super mario 64 sequel

i believe people are mainly looking at each console for their hot games / and how much each console sold / or how well it did in the past.

i firmly believe that wii will be successful because of this new controller. it adds in a new diminsion into the entire game rather than pressing a few buttons. sure grahpics dont have to be good but i really only play for the "fun factor".

an example would be counter-strike. sure the graphics blows and the guns look like someone threw it with paint but it sure is a fun game IMO.

this means you can get any game from nes, snes, n64, gc and hopefully play some online.

The system of N64 didn't go down at all, and it was more expensive then PS. You can argue if you want, but ive never met anyone who had a N64 who wasn't pleased with it. That's like saying Play Station 1 is better then dreamcast because it sold more.

That's pretty much how I feel. I am a Nintendo fan but the Gamecube sucked to me. It does have RE4, the Metroid games and Super Smash Bros Melee. Not much else that holds my interest.

I couldn't agree more about N64. It did have great games and in addition to the games you mentioned I enjoyed Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini and several others. I have many great social memories with N64 too mostly due to Goldeneye.

I didn't have an N64, but I would play Goldeneye a lot at friend's houses.

I sucked.

I would always get the awards for "Least Skilled Warrior" and "Most Cowardly." LOL

all console companies have done something innovative

sony brought first console with dual analog sticks

microsoft brought a solid internet system to consoles, and a hard drive

sega brought add-ons (32x, sega cd).... even if they were failures they were still innovative

i just don't see why people think nintendo is so different then all the other companies

I too had forgotten Dreamcast was the first console to venture into online gameplay and it had a built-in modem. It's been years since I played it, though it's in a box in perfect condition in my closet so I ought to.

nes, snes, n64, ps1 are 5 bucks each

xbox, ps2, gc were 10 bucks each

i came to late and they sold out all the games for n64

I myself really didn't consider getting a console all that much. Nintendo, however, is behind THE ONE GAME that can make me buy the Wii, should the version of the game for the new console be significantly better than the one for the GC.

i find the wii a "fun" console rather than the ps3. enjoy your controllers.

But I would get PS3 over XBOX360 anyday.

I was a huge fan of the first mgs. that **** was awesome. i would get that, tekken, and assassins creed.

Also interesting is the fact that Sonic will be on the PS3.

Technically, the saturn was the first online console (in japan) with virtual on.

What's so interesting about it? SOnic has been on ever platform since the death of the DC, and they've all been crap since sonic adventures 2.

What's funny about assasin's creed is that it was demoed for the ps3, on an xbox 360.

But yeah, MGS4 does look cool. I'm not sure if I should get it (when I buy a ps3 next year) due t me missing out on MGS3 (the second one spoilt if for me).

I've flip flopped like a politician and now I'm on the wii bandwagon. It'll probably pull a GCN and kind of suck, but it least it won't cost more than my dads car.

600 wingwangs is a rediculous price.

I predict Xbox 360 does best this time around. Nintendo's lost popularity, and most people aren't ready to blow 3 rent payments on the ps3(though I'd like one)
