So I made a good impression... Did not make one single error, didn't miss a single tackle, and just played well generally. Didn't score a try but did draw two men and dish it off to give the outside man an easy try. By the end of the day all of the coaches were calling me by my name... (I am new to the team and there are like 40 new guys in the squad this year). A lot of players complimented me as well. So I think I'm in pretty good stead at this point in the season.

Damn it Ireland stealing victory off of us, England played great though well from the 10 minutes i watched at start and 15 at end, I feel asleep after a hard day at work :/
Any rugby League players?
Opinions on the World Club challenge tomorrow, going to be very interesting what with Leeds rhinos poor form lately and Melbourne Storm bringing Inglis and Slater both arguably the best players in the world for their positions :/

it was definitely a good game. surprised at wilkinson though. missed the first 3 kicks. and he missed a tackle. but it was close nonetheless. i was definitely holding my breath at thge last 2 minutes waiting to see if england would make a break. ireland played smart though.

In WS4SB, Joe D. says he saves dyn. bench and dyn squats for his more advanced athletes and not for begginners bc they lack strength and mass. I am a freshman in highschool at 195 lbs at 7% bodyfat and bench 240 and squat 325. I have come along way, but I havent incorporated dynamic work yet, Do you think it is time for me to do this? Do you think I have come out of my begginer stage and i can use dyn benches and squats?

Best endurance I would say to get your short burst speed/lactate threshold up. Meaning you should train HIIT where you would sprint all out for lets say 20-30 seconds then rest/recover for 60-90 seconds around a track and repeat. That will give you more of a game like simulation rather than just jogging which will only target your slow twitch muscle fibers.

so im a junior 6'8" c/f in high school hoping to go D-1 and i was just wondering if you could tell me of a great way to help improve my vertical this offseason since it is around mid-high 20's, and i want it to go way up. ive been thinking and feel like that is one of my weaknesses so i need to improve that.
thanks

Sup brahs, former center reporting in
appreciate any help/intake you guys have on this rugby U-15's training programme I'm trying to think up. It's rattling my head. Got dumped which resulted in a dislocated shoulder and fractured collar bone, ruled me out for over a year. Seeing if I have any intresst in couching.

hey guise.
had my first 10's tournament on the weekend and my first game of rugby since i've lost 20kg and gotten a lot stronger.
Felt really good, i hit a hole from 10m out and bardged over for a try, carried 2 blokes, who tried to hold me up, i only made about 2 tackles, but the games were very fast for a prop, had a couple of carries, i had 2 linebreaks, one was off a kickoff and the other from tap kick,\.
Felt really good moving around the park, being fit and carrying less weight!
Reminds me of how i used to play before i got fat!!!310 Pounds down to 218 Pounds.

So I picked up a nice little rash from sliding on artificial turf this past weekend that's about as painful as any joint or muscle injury I've endured over the past couple years. I'm sure if the day was a loss it'd hurt a good bit more. Got our most important match of the year coming up. We're undefeated through the first round of matches, going up against a team whose only loss is us. To top it off they've got the toughest set of loose forwards we've seen this year. Glad we'll get two weeks off after it.

Not sure if I can answer why your mind wasn't on the job, but suffice to say you should bring the same approach to your training that you do to your matches.
As for the tackling. What were you trying to achieve. Was a practice on taking man and ball, trying to practice the wrap up tackle or was it just plain tackling practice?
If it was just tackling practice then start back at basics: get low, hips below shoulders, attack the attacker - tackle them on your terms - aggresively, head to side and up, spine straight, hit them at knee height or lower and grab both legs.
When you've got that down and your timing is better then you can start going higher and gradually work your way up the body again.
Hope that helps....keep at it and keep us posted.http://www.fit4rugby.com
