it also depends on your activity level. if you exercise a lot then deffinately eat more because you need them to use for energy. eat smart though you dont want empty calories that are from garbage foods. it can also depend on your bodyweight and muscle mass. the more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns and the same somewhat applies with body weight. if your 190lbs and fit and muscular youll need far more calories than a person thats 140lbs to gain mass. if you feel that you aren't responding the way you'd like off of 3000 cal. then up your food intake with some good foods that your body can use. you'll figure out what works best for you through trial and error. we all have to experiment at first so good luck bro and lift hard and heavy!

since your a super ecto, id recommend taking even more than 3000 calories a day. just eat tons of clean foods man (even use a weight gainer shake for a supplement) to get those calories in. and bust your ass in the gym.

gaining weight all boils down to eating more calories than you burn.......metabolism,thermogenic effect of food, daily activity, exercise, and bf% all effect the amount of calories that your body needs........
it is hard to be exact but multiplying your bodyweight by 15 usually gets you your maitenance calories.............but since you claim you are a super ectomorph multiply your bodyweight by 17-18
this will get you the amount of calories you need to survive daily.......without gaining or losing
now take that figure and add 500 to it to give you your daily calories in order to gain approx. 1lb per week..........anymore and it is likely to be fat/water
as far as training keep cardiovascular exercise to a minimum and lift using split program over 3-5 days vitalizing compound lifts such as squats, deads, presses, chins, and rows
keep workouts to an hour and eat every 2-3 as well
remember to eat high protein foods at least 1 gram per lb of bodyweight
sleep 8 hrs per night minimum
drink plenty of H2O
good luck6-1
