I live in eastern europe. I can't buy fat free stuff.
They only just started doing the normal stuff. but it isn't salty. It has 5% fat so i usually mix
70g cottage cheese,
with 50g tuna,
50g of frozen spinach and
25 of cous cous (or skip the cous cous sometimes)
then I microwave till the cheese melts. Does that sound like an okay meal to you folk?Less talk more action

It is very nutritious (more so than your current cottage cheese), have a look out for it next time.

Im also in europe, italy, and there aint no quark here....
Last question, is it ok to eat this stuff, 200g, just before bed? Obviously an hour before could be better but some days there just aint enough hours.
On one of the links posted by AB it said you can eat right before bed, but i believe it was referring to the fat free cc, in my case ive got 4g per 100g, i know it aint much but will it make much differnce?Last edited by DoIt; 09-13-2006 at 11:53 PM.

Thanks for the tip but sadly i have just realised what this quark (or tvaroh as it is called) is..... you guys hate cottage cheese? You have no idea exactly how bad tvaroh is. It smells like rancid yogurt. When my collague eats it I have to leave the room cause the smell makes me hurl!!!!!!!!
But I'll look into ways to stomach it.... thanks! I think......Less talk more action

Wow this has really opened up my eyes to how great cottage cheese is. I had sort of forgotten about it after a few so-so uses but these recipes are fantastic. I've tried the pasta, pizza, and yogurt so far and they are all nutritious, delicious and cheap. Great post ... and avatar

i'm about to try cottage cheese for the first time, thanks for the tips.
edit: well it's not bad at all, no taste and no smell. i accidently went a bit overboard and put half the container in the drink, ah well :P i mixed it with just under one scoop of ON whey cookies and cream, plenty of milk and a tiny amount of milo (chocolate powder drink stuff) and it was pretty thick after blending it up but i could get used to it.Last edited by theslyfox01; 09-16-2006 at 09:06 AM.

I have had a problem with cottage cheese for a long long time...and I am not sure why. I am assuming it was something from my childhood. Anyways, I should break down and try the stuff. One of two things is bound to happen when I do...
Thanks for creating this thread, asianbabe. It is very useful, and the links are great. Well done!RIP My Beloved Son: March 2000 ~ June 2008.

I have a huge blob of this stuff mixed with yougurt right before bed, it's the only way I can eat it, or with jam or honey. It's great stuff though, cheap, lean, high in protein, etc.

I eat this for lunch or in between meals, sounds gross I know but.....a hefty helping of CC, mix in about a Tbsp of bacon bits like used for salad & then picante sauce or your fav salsa, mix well & enjoy. I gotta say though it looks totally disgusting, but eating it plain is so bland I have to "kick it up a notch".

One of my new favorite recipes which is part of breakfast:
- one container of smooth CC (roughly 250g)
- sweetener (I use a mixture of stevia and crushed splenda tabs)
- one scoop of chocolate whey protein powder
- 4 tablespoons of wheatgerm
- mix, mix, mix......delicious
I normally have this together with some eggs & oats etc.

Don't you guys get Dry Curd Cottage Cheese in the U.S.? That is all I eat here. Regular CC is higher in Sodium.
Half a cup of dry curd has only 45 grams sodium, while having 22 grams of protein. Amazing food.

I just managed to eat my first half cup of cottage cheese, roughly thirty minutes ago.
I put half a cup of cottage cheese on a plate, and mixed in an unknown quantity of cinnamon in with it. Then, with around 10 ounces of milk, I proceed. Spoon, milk. Spoon, milk. Minimal chewing, just a spoon of cheese and a swig of milk and down it goes.
For me, it's not so much the taste as it is the texture. With the aforementioned choice of intake, I think I've finally found a way to get it down at night.
