It is true with what she said. But it's over a long period of time that this will happen. If you take "whey protein supplements" regularly and constantly for a good 20 or more years. (I'm talking about straight, constant, regularly). Then your body will adapt to not having to make these protein enzymes, and will not produce AS many enzymes as before since they are dependent on this daily schedule you have given them. It's not bad for teens or bad for your digestion system, just don't take it for all your life. Supplements are meant to "support" you, not to "carry" you. If you get that...

I just told you your teacher is stupid! there are 8 (i think or its 16) non essential amino acids and that probly what he is talking about your body makes its own nonessential amino acids the others are essential. And i believe that the thyroid is the only one that stops produceing anything if you take thyroid pills.

You lot need to do more research before you start throwing stupid insults at each other and calling each other dumbass!!!!!
Ok.....Dumbass.

What teacher are you talking about this to? Talk to a Chemistry teacher, someone who has experiences in what things are made of. That's who I talked to.

However, IIRC there's only like around 80 found in nature (that are derivatized on proteins), so I don't know what the hell BB is 4 life is talking about with his 198 number. If he's talking about amino acid derivatizes that are used to synthesize different substrates such as the pathways that feed the CAC cycle and other metabolic pathways mainly, then there's tons of those like s-adenosylmethionine which is used for synthesizing creatine, but is not actually like the amino acid methionine (just a derivatized form) at all.

Anyway, yeah... teachers shouldn't talk about things they know nothing about, heh.
