Okay I am 19 years old. I have been seriously training for about a year and a half. My bench started at about 125lbs for 7 reps, and is now about MAX 225 for 4 reps on a really good day. I am 198 lbs, 5'10''. I feel like I am too weak on the bench press. I am doing everything I can to get better but nothing so far. Am I really as weak as I think a am. My buddy who started training with me for two months now can already bench more and he's younger!!

I just started bulking on November 12th 2001. My bench started at 135 lbs 5ish times. Now it's at 185 4 times. I am 17. I have been making okay progress. I would like to hit the 200 mark soon though. That would be ideal. really I dont care how much I can put up as long as my chest burns for the next few days. I dont really see why it is so important to have a hogh bench press. Just my 2 cents.

the first benching i can remember is when i was about 13 i hit 60 pounds,, i thought i was a bad mo fo,, last december i started lifting and hit 200 as a 1RM,, now after going on and off for a year,, i can push about 285-295 also as a 1RM,, also last december i weighed 345 (really overweight), now im setting at about 290, still have a lot of work to do on my bench but 95 pounds is a long way to come in a year while losing weight at the same time

My chest used to get unbelievably sore after every workout, but now it's kinda toned down. I had a good workout yesterday and my chest is only a little sore. Last week I did pre-exhaustion and it was crazy sore. I think I'll try that again next week."Sometimes you just feel tired, you feel weak. And when you feel weak you feel like you just wanna give up. who cares what your bench is!!!! sure its nice to know your progress and all, but a bb shouldnt be concerned with his 1 rep max on exercise....THATS A POWERLIFTER! every workout, concentrate on ripping apart your muscle fibers, whether it be your chest, your back, your legs, your biceps...... EVERY MUSCLE PART!

I am a powerlifter at 5ft 10 right now at 14stone (apx 192lb ish) 88kg, any way when i first started training i wanted to see what i could bench, i was only turning 17 at 169.4lb(77kg), i benched 200lb for 1 unsteady rep (u know the type, one arm extends stright than the other), well i done it (not paused on chest though like a powerlifter has to but i still done it), a few weeks ago before i got ill with the flu i weiged at 95kg(210lb)...ok u think i am bull ****ting but i did not train for 2months at all and have not eaten hardly anything as my motivation has gone, but any way at 95kg (210lb) i was able to bench 185kg(407lb) for a 1 rm. now i went back to training and fuc* me i have lost some stength due to my lose of weight and training etc, i benched 137.5kg(302.5lb) for a 1rm, but dont fear i shall be back by the end of the year.
and good luck with all bechers in the room.

Right before I tore my shoulder in October, I put up 370 on bench. Last Monday I put up 315 for 5 reps, and it's steadily increasing every week still... 400 is coming soon!
btw, I'm 20.If you aren't prepared for the answer, don't ask the ****ing question.

when i started lifting my freshman year i was 5'7" weighed 115 and could bench 140 or so. I am now a 135lb junior and can do 240 (although i am still 5'7" ) I havent made any gains in about 2 months despite hard work and doing multiple chest excersises. i think you go in spurts. with 2-3 month plateaus between serious gains

I'm 16, and I started benching a little over a year ago, doing about 150 x 10 with tires and a bench I had by my fireplace. I only workout off and on, and now my 1RM, as of yesterday, was 260. Cause I'm just trying to get my max up to 310 by football season, I've been doing heavy benching like 230 x 4 or 5.
