Sponsorship or Study Help
Hey Guys I have a question.
Do they really use athletes and pro bodybuilders for studies on their products?
I was wondering if its true because,I would like to submit myself to be monitored for about 6 weeks. I am going to prepare for an athletic competition and I only have 6 months to train and about 10-15 pounds to lose. And I am a student on a budget, and I goal I am trying to attain is very hard. I have been trainig real hard, but I dont use supplements and I would like to try them for the period of time I am training.I would log my workouts and my diet(Well I do now),but with the use of supplements to track my body.Do you guys know who I may be able to contact to see if I may be able to do this?I can tell you guys more about my project on myself.
Thanks guys.

Actually, just about anybody can become a "tester" and receive plenty of free supplements around here. You just have to get your name on the list. Be on the lookout for "Testers Wanted " threads. Honest feedback is always appeciated...

Brian,
With your particular competition is it absolutely necessary that you lose the "weight" literally, or would it be theoretically possible to recomp to maintain strength / endurance and still win.
Do you have a trainer / nutritionist at all ?
Can you outline your diet and routine ?

Is is necessary because I am carrying at gut at 170 pounds. And I say gut, I mean gut.I can see the outline of my abs but I need to as light as possible to run the 400 meters. Its the most grueling race in track and field and of anyone here has run it you know what I mean!If it is a race where you are sprinting for a whole lap and the more weight you carry, the faster you body fatigues. With the extra weight,I can distrubute the energy in my race properly because I am carrying more than I need to.I and this extra fat helps me carry water, and I carry it very easily. Also I wear a speed suit when I run and it is not good to have a speed suit in a gut when you run hahaha.

Hey pu12en12g,
I do have to cut 2 seconds off my time, and about 10 pounds off my frame. The average 400 meter runner at my height*5'10* is at a running weight of about 155-165. The olympic champion ran at 156 in 2004. So at 170 with a gut,I am carrying more than I need to.

Brian,
After the preliminary verification we did, I can say that I am tentatively interested in sponsoring you for the upcoming event.
In the previous 400m and 200m results that you sent me, were you taking any performance enhancers / ergogenics... etc ?? (even during training for the event... example did you use caffeine during your training or lifting)...
Are performance enhancers / ergogenics banned at that level of competition ??

At there events locally, they dont test. But it is monitored in college, but I dont know what is banned and what is not. There is a list, but its mainly stimulants, ephedrine and steroids. With the Balco scandal, track and field is turnend upside down.
I sent you my training and nutritional info in a message. I dont have a trainer or nutritionist. To be honest,I cant afford one. And although,I am new to this,I dont think that having to pay for one is necessary for me.Most people on here do it on there own.Plus the training wasnt there when I had to lose all of the weight I gained last year hahaha. And trainers keep info from you to keep you coming back because they want you to realize you need them in order to attain your goal.Thats how trainers get paid. I dated one for about 3 weeks and she told me that hahahaha! But mostly,I do what I can on my own.

This my training split as well.
My Day1:Chest/Back and abs
Day 2:Olympic Lifts,Legs emphasis on my thighs)
Day 3:Triceps/Biceps,Abs
Day 4:Olmypic lifts and legs emphasis on my hamstrings)
Day 5:Shoulders and traps and my killer ab day.
The days have to match what i do on the track. So on the days i sprint extremely hard,I either used day 2 or day 4.
My huge emphasis is on my abs because at the end of the 400meters your form breaks down and strong mid section minimizes that.Hamstrings are huge in sprinting as well.
Lastly. My diet consist of high protein and lots of oatmeal.I am a student on a budget.Being that I was overweight a year ago,I don't really eat sweets and I carry water easily so I dont eat alot of carbs, but its a moderate amount for energy. And I go through a galloon of water a day.
My parents cook alot of fish as well.
Also when I ran my first race,I was on nothing but some ballys protein.I think I tryed a redbull one or twice though.Didnt help my workouts at all

I'm going to make sure the good folks @ SNS see this also, because I think the following combo would be optimal in your scenario:
Purple WRAATH:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/clabs/purple.html
Green Bulge / CVM Xtreme:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/clabs/green.html
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/sns/cvm.html
Focus XT:
http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/sns/focus.html
If you could find out the regulations as far as supplements that would be great too... and also you are 18+ correct ?

All the products you showed me look good sir.
They took caffine off the list this past year.Green bulge is the creatine right?
I do have one question.Last year,I tryed thermo dynamax, and it gave me head aches. Are these products pretty good about no head aches?
Other than that,its pretty good.
And yes sir,I am over 18 years old.

Yeah, of the Controlled Labs products the only thing I could find was the NCAA ban on glycergrow, but that is due to it's potential use a diuretic. Moreover, I'm not sure they could test for it if they wanted to... heh.
If you do get sponsored by CL it'll be you and John Lee as the sponsored athletes, heh, and he is HUUUUUUUUGE.

If we go through with this, it would be more of a one-time-temporary-event-prep-sponsorship type deal... there is MUCH more to Brians story (I don't want everyone to think that this is something I would normally consider).

I figured there was there more to the story than we saw here However, I'm not one to pry. I'm sure there will be a lot of people asking WTFBBQ if they saw this thread though.
I think it is cool that CL is sponsoring him for this event, even though I don't know the whole story
Josh
-- Your inbox is full Pure, got a bunch of people asking you to sponsor them now that they saw this thread? Hahahhaahaa.

Hey,
With any of these supplements, could you used them before a running workout like you would a lifting workout?
