John Pasco - Kill The OLD Myth!
I am here to tell you that the myth that we should surrender to 'old age', accepting without a whimper inabilities which we are told are inevitable, is dead wrong. I am a competitive bodybuilder at 74 years old!

Have had a few interruptions - operations for various problems/ cancer etc - still using the Gym Machine and some free weights - i seem to be maintaining my levels, if not improving - and to-morrow i will be 76 - i am sure that the resistance training is still helping me. cheers

I have just turned 65 myself. Have a pacemaker but my doctor says ok for exercise. I walk each day and just bought myself a gym. Mr. Pasco is an inspiration to me and I follow in his footsteps. STAY STRONG.

65 and Movin on UP
Back in the gym after a 15 year layoff. Started out slow about 6 months ago and it has been nothing but good. Weight has dropped from 260 to 230. Waist is down to 32 from 38. Taped the guns the other day and they have come from a flabby 15 to a hard 19 and climbing. It's all still there all I have to do is find it and build it. Nothing has changed except I do work out heavier twice a week instead of living in the gym seven days a week. I do cardio and abs 4 days a week and on Sunday I lay back and have a few beers. If someone is trying to talk you out of working out and "acting your age" don't listen. Be Strong

You all motivate me. I was fortunate enough to have a father that was into healthy eating and weight lifting even after a back surgery and health issues. He is and always will be my motivation. I myself plan to live to be 100 and I don't have the personality to sit in a rocking chair...maybe climbing a rock wall, that's more like me. Oh by the way I have a genetic heart defect that occurs in about 1 in a million people and it doesn't slow me down. I run everyday and thanks to proper nutrition and exercise I don't need medication. I may pass out and fall down once in a while because of my heart, but that's what helmets are for right?

Quite Refreshing
Thank you John, for your insight and powerful determination. I'm 60 in a couple of months. Some guys whine in the locker room that they don't recover well and that they might as well not lift because it really does not do any good anyway.
I read an article a while back where a college did testing on people over 70 to see if they could in fact grow muscle mass. The guys that pumped iron did in fact grow muscle mass.
End result. If the doc says your healthy, go for it, believe in it and don't let anyone keep you from it.
Thanks again.

Thanks for a great article John...I'm with you in helping to dispel the 'old age' myths. At 62 years of age, I rarely hold back the intensity of my workouts, and continue to make progress.

It's good to see people that don't fall for that myth that older people are past it and not relevant/valuable anymore. Gives me hope for my old age!
