    Making oatmeal edible

    Alright, so I eat a lot of Quaker old fashioned rolled oats. However, it takes me about half a goddamn hour to get a dry cup (cooked, of course) down. What can I do to make this stuff more edible? I mean, 300 calories worth of oats is quite a bit, so I expect it to take a while, but this is ridiculous. It's so bland and thick.

    I've thought about cutting up a banana or two to put in it, does that work well? I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Also, when you put oats in a blended protein shake, can the oats be dry, or should they be cooked? I'm blending them dry, but I'm worried they won't digest completely that way and it will be wasted.

    All oat tips are appreciated!

    quaker came out with a new instant oatmeal called weight control or something like that, but the banana bread flavor tastes awesome and it has somepretty good stats. It is more filling and has a good amount of fiber and protien in it.

    experiment.. add chocolate syrup, bananas, fruit, etc. in it.. try it with milk.. cinnamon is good, chocolate protien powder, etc.

    or just grind it up into a powder w/ a coffee grinder and throw it in a protein shake

    or just mix it with 6 egg whites and make pancakes

    When I was bulking I couldnt eat a cup of oats when I cooked them, they were too starchy. My solution was to eat it like cereal. I sprinkled a little stevia on top and ate them cold and raw. Not bad actually.

    On high carb days I eat so much oats it is insane. I love them so much with just a little sugar free syrup and cinamon. I can't believe people don't like them, oh well....

    Whole oat flour. I get it bulk at my local co-op. It's just ground whole oats. I put 1/2 cup in my morning shake. Goes down nice and easy!

    I love oats..eat them every day at least once. I always put a few packets of splenda in them. Sometimes I chop up a banana and throw that in as well. Lately I've been using Smuckers Sugar Free Jam (or fruit preserves or something), and throwing a scoop of that into the oats. I love oats

    MMMM 1 cup of oats (dry) & then cooked really isnt that much at all mixing protein powder if you have it in the oats makes em so much more tastey and nice n thick i usually make my oats with egg whites, i stir in the egg whites when the oatmeal starts to get nice n thick then cook for about 5 more mins. It comes out great specially when you add equal and cinnimon. mmmmmmmmm

    1/2 cup oats
    2 cups water
    Splenda
    Moderate amount of cinnomon

    Toss the bowl into the microwave for 5 min....stir it and let it cool down.

    So sticky and DELICIOUS.

    i add water microwave it and then when all the water is soaked up i put in just enough milk to cool it down/thin it up and then pour on blueberries and cut up strawberries....so good

    You wont beleive how little muscle milk it takes to add lots of flavor to oatmeal. Just try your favorite kind. just make sure there is a little extra water when you add it.

    Since I'm not a pregnant woman and I don't even know what cecal weight is,,,,,, and none of those side effects including getting fat.

    I buy boxes of Quaker instant oatmeal that come in serving size packets. I just open up the packet and dig in with a spoon... snack on it like cereal, no water or anything added

    Try something like Stevia instead:

Sodium Saccharine is a great example of our "proven" research, which deemed it carcinogenic, and was later proven totally incorrect and non-applicable when referencing human consumption.

    2.) The alternative "natural" sweeteners have a few of their own proven side-effects:
    * Being fat
    * Being very fat or "obese"
    * Diabetes Type II
    * Depression
    * Low self-esteem and self-worth
    * Eating disorders
    * Tooth decay and gum disease
    * Insulin resistance
    * Cancer (esp. within lower abdominal organs)
    * Sleep apnia
    * Insomnia or "troubled sleep"
    * Lethargy
    * Etc, etc.

    3.) It's interesting to me that many of those who take aas, major cns stimulants, and/or other chemicals would worry about the potential side effects of a few packets of splenda, especially considering that 99% of the food sold in our supermarkets is garbage anyway. It's like we're straining out a gnat to swallow a camel.

    eating them raw sucks tho.. in this sense... that i like to have the most volume possible.. when you eat them raw, its like there's notthing there !

    when you cook them they grow to like 4x the volume..

    what about people who eat SUPER freak healthy. no processed **** or any sweetners or anything?

    I like to throw in some berries... i havent tried it with pineapple juice yet, but the bromelain in pineaplle helps aid in digestino a ton, espeically with ur protein. Its great to throw in tuna, just a tiny bit to give it flavor, but not too much to kill ur Carb count for the day

    Immma try my next meal of oats with some pineapplle juice. yummzors
