    how many sets do you get done in an hour

    in an hour session i usually look to do about 26 sets...u?

    I probably get about 32 in for my upper body in a little less than an hour, i try to take a very short break between sets and i go early in the morning so i never have to wait for the next bench or machine.

    wow maybe im doing something wrong, maybe i should put more space in b/t my sets or excersizes, but with 4 sets per excersize, i usually can do about 8 different workouts within an hour, so i say 32 for me, i guess ill keep mine up till i plateau cause its been working magic for me....

    So by doing 2 excersizes for each muscle, and only doing 4 muscle we overtrain, meaning i shouldent to deads and squats for my quads (that would equal 8 sets for me). And for chest i shouldent do flat bench, incline and decline?(that would be 12 sets and shouldent take 15 min. Explain how its over training plz?

    the number of sets is not important its the quality of them.........i think dorian and mentzer proved that.........if you are not on anabolic agents sheer volume will not do you alot of good.........12-16 all out 110% sets is more productive

    If you're only doing 12 sets then that means your rest periods are far too long. 3 minutes should be the absolute maximum, 1.5-2 minutes is ideal. I just started OVT which is basically 20 sets for 2 muscle groups at 5 reps each set. I get done my workout in about an hour.

    I agree do any of you lift heavy weight. Their is no way that you are getting good workout if you are pushing yourself to the max. And dont say that you super set all the time because if you superset every time your in the gym you are over training. Super sets is a intensity techique and like the rest of them they should be used sparingly.

    Sounds like you don't know what your are talking about. I swear, all these ppl that are scarred they overtrained if they 20 sets for a big or 12 sets for a small body part. I'm more worried about the teen section undertraining.

    Btw- I can get about 20-25 sets in in an hour. So my workout takes about An hour and 20 minutes.

    Ok so what are they doing then, showering? I do 12, and am seeing amazingly awesome gains. I think its stupid to do 40 sets when half of that will net you the exact same results. Its not how much you do, its how effectively you do it dudes.

    Overtraining results not from how many sets you do in one workout but by not allowing your body the proper amount of rests between workouts. By the way I do 40 sets, 5 reps each, at a very high intensity. If you've ever heard of OVT or GVT, you'd know that doing that many sets is not overtraining. The proper amount of rest inbetween sets for maximum hypertrophy is 1.5-2.5 minutes. I don't know how you could only be doing 12 sets with that much rest inbetween in one hour.

    OK all I have to say is if it works for you stick with it I only do about 12 or 13 and I have seen amazing results not to mention I've got great muscles for my age. So if someone is seeing results it's not anyones place in here to tell them they aren't doing enough people have different needs.

    Well you have to take into consideration that some people workout with a partner, doubling the time it takes to complete a workout.
