    Hummus

What's everyone's thoughts on hummus? Do you consider it a good food to incorp. into a clean diet? I've been trying to eat hummus more and more. I just recently tried it and love it. However, I'm not sure how much is too much, etc. The kind I got expires on Saturday so I was planning on using it as a dip with crackers over the next few days.

    hello

I make my own hummus... but basically I think its a great food to incorporate into your diet, check your label, but it should usually consist of:

Chick peas (protein, carbs and fibre!)
tahini (sesame seed paste - high in good fats)
and various herbs and spices - garlic, salt, lemon juice etc

i usually eat them with veggie sticks - carrots and celery

careful though, some of the store bought hummus dips contain a lot of fat

Here is a basic one which you might like to try:

Thanks. The one I bought is from Trader Joes so I figured it was on the better side of what regular hummus from say a regular supermarket would be. I'llk have to check the ingredients good though.

If you looooove hummus, you should see if there is Wegman's near you. They have a whole hummus bar - every flavor imaginable! and all fresh too!

    Red face Trader Joes Hummus

So you use trader joes hummus? I used to eat that alot, and it sure is yummy! As I recall, its pretty wholesome and has around 5 g of fat for 2 tablespoons or something like that...its been a long time though. I used to eat it when I wanted to spread my fat intake among several more meals throughout the day. Oooh, you can make your own healthy chicken shawarma plate too :P

Well, the one I bought isn't Trader Joe's brand, I just bought it there. I was looking today and I think it has about 2g of fat it said for 2 tbsp.
