i just wanted to know that if i did this instead of my 45 min. moderate intensity session (as explained in the book), would it help me lose my fat more dramatically, or is it an extreme step into something my body isn't prepared for? also, im around the 20% range of bf, and dont know if it would b safe to jump into something like that when i start. thx!

wait, srry guys, im still confused about that stubborn fat thing:
-r u supposed to do it when u wake up, hence the fasted state?
-y would it b worse to do it throughout the cycle opposed to regular cardio?
i mean the fact is, wouldn't i b burning more fat that way? and yes, i have a high pain tolerance, so i can put up with it.
also he mentions lowering carbs, which is kinda hypocritical cause he says in his book that lowering carbs wouldn't b necessary because carbs in a lowered deficit will already show its effects on lowered insulin, and...well all these other things that i cant remember.Last edited by B.b. in stress!; 04-15-2006 at 11:41 AM.

I don't think you understand the meaning of "stubborn fat". These are places on your body with an abnormally high number of A2 fat cells, and you simply can't lose them without doing an absurd amount of cardio with a huge caloric deficit (which would compromise your muscle mass). They simply are not an issue until you are in single digit %BF levels. At 20%, you don't have "stubborn fat". You just have fat.
So basically, you are subjecting yourself to a torturous cardio regimen targetted at a very specific scenario for no point at all.

This is correct.
OP, if you are 20% fat... you just have that good ol' friendly podgey fat. This fat is a piece of cake to burn as it just takes your standard cardio bouts, healthy eating with clean foods and a whole load patience.
The "Stubborn Fat" Lyle talks about is when you are around 10% Body fat (and I'd say 12% pushing it personally), like this:
Not like this:
.
If you're 20% body fat and you use the Stubborn Fat Protocols advised by Lyle... it's not going to be beneficial to you as much as 45 minutes cardio sessions, eating healthy and patience. Maybe fasting will help... but this isn't necessary and it's better to work out in comfort than punishing yourself when there's not that much difference in benefit at this stage.
Once you've brought your body fat % down to 10% and you're basically plateauing from doing the above - THEN it's worth looking at getting super lean by using Lyle's approach.
Anyway. I'm on page 61 of this book (just about to read the 4 protocols - getting excited) and I'm going to start using these these tips as i'm coming up to 10% bf.
Either way - good luck bro! Hope this helps Take care and keep at it!Last edited by SquattsAndOats; 02-07-2014 at 04:11 AM.
