    Is 8 Months enough time?

I juat started lifting with determination and goals. Before I lifted half @ss, and just didn't take it seriously.

Now the Army has me in Korea, no Wife, no distractions. All I do is eat and lift. I just heard the Army will be holding an All Army Body Building Competition in Seoul Korea, in October.

I have never once thought about competing. But now, I am curious. I have thought about it, and here lately I kinda want to do it just for the experience. I actually could care less if I placed 50 out of 50. At least I could say I competed.

For those of you out there, do you think it is possible to get ready in 8 months? I thought about continuing my bulk until August, and start a cut, then decide if I should go for it depending on how the muscles are looking as I cut.

Since you have 8 months and no outside distractions... just go for it. When else will you get a chance in life to totally dedicate 8 months to bodybuilding like you can now? I say Get shredded now. Cut like you have a contest in 3-4 months. Then take the 4-5 months leading up to the contest to up your calories for a couple months then dial it in the last 8 weeks. If you come in dry and hard you can beat out bigger guys that look sloppy.

I say go for it. 8 months should be enough time for all but the most difficult cases. I was in rough shape body fat wise and I'll be there in 6 when it's said and done. Not sure what your current stats are - hieght, weight, BF etc. One thing I will tell you though is this: "Kinda" wanting to do it will not cut it. I'm half way through my first contest training/diet right now and can tell you that it takes lots of discipline and persistence to overcome the days when you just don't feel like playing anymore! Point is this: you have to really want it or the chances of it happening are slim. As for where or if you place: Forget about that and just do your best. When I get out there in June, I may place dead last but it will be the best possible package that I could offer and that's something I can live with... that and the fact that I'll be taking home the best shape of my life just in time for summer!!! That just aint a bad thing!Other than this, I have no strong feelings about it either way~!

Thank you! Not one person yet has been supportive of me or understands that I just want the experience so I can be more competitive next time. Not to highjack the thread and I know that comment wasn't towards me but it gave me motivation to not give up and just do it. Thanks. As for the OP, like I just finished saying, do it for the experience and self-accomplishment. What do you really have to lose? Do it for you and no one else. Prove to yourself you can do it!

I know what you mean, I guess I used the "kinda" loosely. I do want it, but I have never ever done this before. I feel if I can get my focus anything is possible. Just wish I would have known about it sooner, wish I would have started lifting sooner, but hey you can't change the past yet you can pave your own road to the future.

I think I will, I do want to step on that stage, just extremely nervous, hell I just learned how to eat properly, and I tweak my diet all the time LOL.

I like this strategy. I am currently looking for more details on the event, and I think I will continue my Clean Bulk, till I get some answers. I would hate to cut down now, and then find out I will not be able to participate. I was told they can have me all the info I need within the next few weeks.

I will try to keep you all up to date, and if this thing is a for sure go, and I can participate, I will. Let me say, you will be seeing more post from me in this section of the forums.

[QUOTE=atrain11b;135555641]Thanks for the encouragement from everyone in this thread.

I know what you're thinking right now. "Can I do this?"; "what will I look like?". "hey, I can bail at the last minute, if I don't like the way I look". You're sort of qualifying the endeavor with an "OUT" just in case. This sound familiar?

I did the same thing because it's my first too coming up. I was affraid to tell people what I'm doing for fear that I'll disspoint them in the end. The problem, I was deluding myself. It was really ME affraid of disspointing myself. I decided to turn that fear into motivation!!! It wasn't until I told myself, "you're doing it come hell or high water" that I begin putting forth the necessary effort!

My philosophy: There is nothing like knowing that you'll soon present yourself in your underwear before a couple of hundred people to motive you into dietary and workout discipline!!! And, for those who might be inclined to provide unconstructive negative feedback no matter the result, let's see them do it!

Draw the line in the sand, set your mind to it and forge ahead bro. There is no other way.
