pre and post workout supplements for women
o.k., I've been doing a lot of research on this, and I've heard so many different things about what you need before and after workouts. Maybe someone can help me out. I'm not bodybuilding, just trying to get some lean muscle mass and tone up. I'm so confused on what to take as far as supplements and my carb and protein intake before and after working out! For example, I read in muscle and fitness hers that you should eat white sugar or white bread immediatly after working out! I don't know, help me out! Should I take certain supplements before and after, and if so, which ones? How about carbs and protein before and after, how much and examples of what I could take? My problem is, sometimes I end up working out late at night, so I don't know what kind of carbs would be best after a workout since I go to bed soon after that. I know whey protein is good, but then I need carbs as well right? Thanks
(I'm 5'2, 118llbs)

They say to have a meal a little before your workout of slow digesting carbs with protein and little fat. And post workout protein and fast digesting carbs (white bread, gatorade, some have a banana).
I however, just drink BCAAs and no longer do a post workout insulin spike (Similar to cut diet). Scivation Xtend is a good product for this, it also helps with recovery!
As for a pre workout supp i take White Blood which gives me great pumps, and it's not a stim so you could take it late at night if you were interested.

Thanks! So Scivation Xtend is all you take after you workout? Does this have BCAA's in it?

Yes, delicious BCAAs i may add. And no carbs or calories. I fill up a 20oz. bottle with 4 scoops, and i sip at it starting 15 mins pre-workout, and finish up the last few sips post workout. This is also supposed to stabilize your insulin levels so you don't have to worry about nutrient timing pre/post workout.

If you are just starting out, I would just go with a good whey, multi, and fish oil for now...

Actually White Blood is another supplement by controlled labs, pretty much the stim-free N.O. product. Similar to white flood but without the stims and maybe a few other ingredients that white flood has.
I've recently been taking BCAA's throughout my workout, also, and am loving it! I'm using Purple Wraath.

Hi I am also interested in a preworkout powder ! I just recently started working out ! I need a boost and do not care if it has stim! I am 25yrs , female, wt.= 192, and thick! I do not care about getting thin as a rail, but I want to tone up. I unfortunately am an impatient human being, I like fast results. I know it is going to take time ,so I need a boost in my energy levels. I have also started eating a better regimen. A little more back ground I have been this same size since I was in high school ! I eat whatever , whenever I want ! So I am trying this to see if I can get to be what I know I need to be!

What you need before a workout
You guys are 4getting the basics. Before your workout you need some carbs for energy to get you though your workout, when you workout you strip your muscle layer by layer. When you muscle grows , it grows bigger ( muscle growth ). When you strip your muscle certain nutriments are loss, so you have to take protein with the sufficient amount of protein, nutriments, and carbs that will act as an pre- and post subsance. If you eat a small meal with a shake it will full you up then workout, after your workout your body will be starving, because the nutriments you put in yourbody were absorbed. Your body can't absorb fat and burn fat at thesame time so what ever you put in your body will be absorbed for energy. I use the same protein powder b4 and after my workout it's Mus-L blast you can only get it on-line . Mus-L blast by MLO had whey, soy protein isolate, and whey concentrate .serving recommended are 4 scoops I use 2 scoops and get 17,905 mg of amino acids of with 3444 mg are bcaa s. You will see the differenace in 1 month just take b4 and after shots.
