Creatine Making You Cranky, Change Mood? Anyone?

I just started taking creatine monohydrate about 2-3 weeks ago. Can creatine effect your mood? Does anybody else notice there mood has changed since there have started taking creatine? Is that even possible that maybe a side effect is that it can change your mood, make you cranky, tired? Any help would be greatly appreciated......

No. It has an effect on focus so maybe there is a connection.

Not me, sorry bud. I would doubt that creatine itself can effect mood swings but I am not 100% sure.

There wouldn't be any reason for it to have an effect on mood, unless it was a volumizer product. Straight creatine will not change mood or cause acne or anything like that. If it is a volumizer, it may have ingredients that will impact blood sugar and insulin, which may cause the crankyness.

    What product are you using?

The only thing I can think of is that you're not drinking enough fluids (i.e. water), thus the dehydration is causing mood swings. Try to up your water intake to 1.5-2 gallons of water daily and report back next week

Actually I notice acne when I dont drink enough water on creatine. Ive seen threads here and there about people swearing it increased theirs too. Probably from not drinking enough water though.

It is possible. Taurine makes me feel tired/relaxed, where it seems to give other people energy. Some CNS stimulants can have opposite effects on people.

As far as creatine, no type I have ever used has given me energy. I have taken CEE a few times pre-workout and then felt like I wanted to take a nap. As was mentioned, it could be a hydration issue.
