Gonna drop weight this March and on April 1st will test 40
I decided to drop of excess fat. I don't know my bodyfat% but I have a gut and wear 36" pants so that will give you an idea.
I am gonna eat high protein, low carbs.
I wan't to experiment this month and see what a drop in fat will do to my 40 yard dash and overall explosiveness and speed. My deadlift and Squat are increasing every week.
Right now I weigh 196 pounds. I will keep this up until April 1st. I'm guessing to get in the 170-180 pound range. This will be 32 days
My current PR 40 yard dash time is 5.26; I usually run in the 5.3's
Lets see how it goes!

Day 1
I came up with this idea in the Afternoon. So I have only eaten really good about half of this day. I had a scoop of whey at 7:00 pm, and a can of chicken around 9:30 pm. Both add up to 107 grams of protein.
I expect the first 2 weeks to be tons of water weight.

I would not try to drop weight man, it could be counter productive to getting faster. I would just eat CLEAN as hell and keep your calories at least at maintain. If you eat clean and keep training hard you'll get leaner, but stronger at the same time.

My bodyfat is too high so losing fat is just gonna be productive. While dropping excess fat my Squat will improve and that will greatly enahance my Mass:Squat Raio. Plus if I get lean enough then when I go to bulk again I will add more muscle then fat and know weather I am bulking good or not.
Also- I have a Microsoft Excel competition in Mid-April and I wan't to get back into 34" so I can wear my suit. serious

I play Defensive End. But chances are I won't start; Its gonna be my Senior Year. I just never had the huge build for it. If I just get on special teams and be on the field I will be happy. I'm thinking getting lean/fast is my best option since I'm already pretty small weight wise. I wanna get on kick-off team and smack some people but I gotta let my coach see I have that flying speed. He already knows I'm working hard.

i was in your same place last year. I knew i had a ****ty 40. i think it was a 5.2 at 190... i didn't purposely try to lose weight by dieting...i actually ate more, lifted, and incorporated a sprinting routine into my training.
Cutting weight isn't always the answer to a faster 40... your start is everything and to get the technique down you need to run 40's constinately. i tested a few months later and ran a 4.8 then a month later 4.72 at a leaner 185. and when you run you need to up your calories because then your burning muscle and your strength.
speed kills size in football nowadays....good luck bro

Why are you excited to lose water? That will just decrease your performance and lead you to worse 40 results.

but at what cost?
When I played football I played defensive line (mostly tackle but the backups had to be able to play every spot)
My junior year I was 5'9, ran my 40 at 190 pounds and got 5.12.
Next year I bulked like crazy, actually put on way too much weight then I should, weighed 225 when I ran my 40 and got 5.20. I think the reason my 40 was so close to my old one despite gaining all of that excess weight is that my lifts got a lot higher while bulking. The year before my squat max was 285, last year I got it up to 405. I think that added strength made a huge difference in my running speed.
5'10 190
lift numbers: not important

I look at it this way: Go run your 40 yard dash. And then try to run it with like a 15 pound or 20 pound vest. Your speed will decrease.
Good job on your bulk by the way. I'm sticking to my plan really good. Haven't cheated yet. If I do cheat on anything; which I probably won't I'll get some Pizza Hut buffalo wings
Buffalo Hot wings from Pizza Hut (10 of them)

Day 4
Weight 187.4 (-0.4 from yesterday)
I'm betting a little more water retention is gone. Since I'm not seeing anymore huge drops of weight then I'm pretty sure all the extra water retention is gone. Now I can start seeing some fat lossess.
Workout Today- Repetition Upperbody Day. On the first exercise today I'm just gonna do a typical bodybuilding set/rep scheme.
Diet Today: *will keep editing
Meal 1
2 scoops of whey protein (46) (260 calories)
2 cups of milk (16) (180 calories)
Bannana (1) (125 calories)
Meal 2
Bannana (1) (125 calories)
2 turkey burgers (64) (340)
Meal 3
Post workout protein (23) (130 calories)
Meal 4
20 buffalo Wings (1200 calories) (110 protein)
Stuff Crust- Peporoni (150 calories) (18 protein)
Stuff Crust- Cheese (152 calories) (19 protein)
Total Protein: 298 grams
2662 calories
Cheated today. Its okay though because From 6:00 PM to 9:00 Pm all I am doing is drinking water. The calories are not even above my mainteance and I worked out with Repetition Upperbody and did an hour basketball. I will probably play another hour also. Plus look at all the protein I got 298 grams

haven't been updating. I have been really off track; my mother ended up in the hospital after a near stroke and she has been there since Monday. She will be back Thursday. So my older brother..28.. has been running the house and I can't get to the gym because theres no gas.
So I missed my leg day so I ended up having to skip my ME lowerbody day I have played basketball 3 days in a row though (usually more then 2 hours) because the weather is starting to get nice.
Did a ME upperbody workout today. Hopefully things will be back to normal tommorow
My weight is at 190.4 pounds after a week .
In the first week I have lost 5.6 pounds. Mostly extra water retention. I was down at 187 so I could probably get down to 185 this week.
I'll do my best to keep updating. Pretty cool because I ran a untimed sprint today and I felt lighter. And all the WSFSB has helped my vertical also. I can grab a 10 foot rim and my old vertical of 25" I couldn't touch the rim so I'm probably at a 26" or 27" vertcal. Tommorow I'm on Day 8

Day 11
Haven't updated in a while. I'm still stuck at 190 only because my diet has been ****. For the next 3 days its hardcore so I can hit a fat loss for the week.
Week 1: Minus 5.6 pounds
Week 2: 3 hardcore days left.
I gotta get this stuff going. I plan on losing all my fat..get down to that 8-10% body fat so I can get faster and get on special teams for football. I can always do better then what I am doing.

omg this is harder then I thought. I'm losing lots of motivation. My weight is stuck at 190 not going down any further.
Its only been 12 or 13 days. The problem is that I'm not fat and like I don't have a urge to lose weight. And everyday teammates keep telling me I'm getting stronger and then they say "get big" so that kinda reinforces the don't lose weight aspect of football.
I'm 6'0 190. I don't know my bodyfat. If I knew my bodyfat then I could have an idea of what direction I should be going in.
Thoughts?

Day 18
Weight: 186.8
Getting it going again. Lost a little motivation but I got it back. My diet has been perfectly under control the past few days.
So far I have lost 9.2 pounds in 18 days. Again a good chunk of it is extra water retention.
Today is a rest day. My workouts have been going great also.

Day 19
Weight 185
Today was awesome: Not only have I dropped 11 pounds (weighed 185 this morning) my Box Squat improved from 2-5 reps on 225 pounds! This means that my muscle is being maintained very nicely. This also means that my strength to mass ratio has greatly improved; meaning more speed/jump for me.
Before: 196 pounds, 225x3 (predicted max 238), Ratio: 1.214
Now: 185 pounds, 225x5 (predicted max 253), Ratio: 1.368

Day 21
Weight: 184.4
Yes I knew that would work I have been doing really good lately so I had a cheat meal to eat mainteance calories. Kinda like a carb up or something to get my metabolism going. Instead of gaining weight like I thought I would I lost more weight.
I no longer have a gut. Just a tiny little pudge at the bottom. I'm starting to lean up and I can see changes in the mirror everyday. This is awesome.
