I get more scared with squats, it's harder to do, harder for me personally to progress, and it's different when you have several hundred pounds on your back and dipping down underneath it than when you pick it up and can drop it whenever you fail/something doesn't feel right very easily at any point during the lift.
If you think you can, you will.
If you think you can't, you're right.

I just started deadlifting a few months ago, and I still don't like it. For the first month I liked it. Now my form got worse (not sure how or why) and I just feel akward doing it. Still don't feel right doing the over/under grip. Next week I'll try to fix my form by doing less weight. I might try a double overhand grip, since I'm lifting for size not strength anyway. Don't really care how much I actually deadlift.

I can understand squats, you gotta move down under the weight--essentially letting it win--then come back up with it on top of you, but deads? starts out down, you just grab on and stand up.
Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one.
Lift the damn weight, and eat the damn food. It's as hard and as complicated as you make it.

SLDL looks really nasty. i mean if you ever watch someone, their back could be straight but the pressure on the lower back makes it "buldge" out.

I just started deadlifting again, I didn't do it because I was warming up one day and felt the left side of my abs/ right by my illiac crest on my pelvic bone start to burn. I was only warming up when it happened, so i just stopped. Last time i took it easy and used moderate weight for lower reps. I felt a little pressure so i stopped after that

Deadlift rules. I'm cuttin down to 180 (hopefully) and will try and pull 2.5x my bodyweight (or more) 4 weeks after today. I don't use any belts or any straps either and have never had a problem.
Why wouldn't you want to include an exercise that induces serious muscle growth / strength and won't hurt you if done properly?Use coupon code BEARD for 5% off your order at truenutrition.com
