how to boost a died methabolism?
i-ve been competing for the last 2 years.
i started with a weight of 58kgs, at my first competition i was 48 kgs very ripped. the second year in june i was weighing 55kgs in competition, not as ripped as the year before but with much more muscles. in december, last competition at 52kgs, too ripped an lost a lot of muscles.
the problem is that my diet, for the last 12 weeks before any competition was just... fish. no carbo, no oil and at 4 week also no vegetables. i just ate rarely some nut.
2 workouts a day. cardio in the morning, then 1 h and half weight 6 days a week.
so offseason i can-t stop eating for a period but also now that i-ve begun a diet, i can-t loose weight. i-m 66 now. maybe my methabolism is too slow due to the strict diet.
i-ve also made the blood exams and everything is ok
someone have experience like mine?
thanks
K

If you can't stop eating, I don't think your metabolism has died.
I'm severely hypothyroid and have been studying it / metabolism part time (for myself, not professionally) for 10 years.. and most people completely lose their appetites when their metabolism tanks.
It may be totally unrelated, but I'd be a little concerned about 1.5 hours of weights, 6 days a week. Are you really letting your body recover enough? The body is a funny thing, and it can be SPITEY when it's not treated well. Trust me on this!!

Hmm, I'm also hypo, and it's true on the lack of apetite... until I actually START eating, then I can't stop? I figure it's because the body needs nutrients, but can't USE them (they get stored instead of used due to lack of T3/4)... so what you said, Euro, confuses me... comment?
To the OP, try taking your temperature, blood pressure and pulse measurements for a while (choose a few times a day, say morning, noon, evening, but preferably not near a w/o or right after you've slept), do this for 4-5 days, then find the averages... if they're quite obviously below normal, yeah, your metabolism is slower than it should be...

Hrm. May depend on how hypo / medicated you are. If you're hypo but on the right/right type of meds, you're far more likely to get your appetite back.. and it may just be as simple as you being in the habit of not eating much, then forcing yourself to and finding your appetite's back?
I know when I'm on an upswing, I get my appetite back. Sometimes I don't even know I'm on an upswing until I force myself to eat breakfast, and then find I actually want lunch.
I also find that eating for me is very much a habit thing, not a need thing. I need to force myself to eat regular meals a few days in a row in order to have any sort of appetite... but then if I miss a breakfast or whatever, the habit's broken and appetite's not necessarily there.
I'm sure I'm on enough Armor to kill a small horse, too.

Oh, I don't eat when I "need" to, I eat when I'm scheduled to... if I ate when I "needed" to, I'd not eat for days, and then, when I'd actually eat something by accident, I'd spend the rest of my life chewing...
Sucks.
