    Most reps with 225 for worlds strongest men/power lifter?

    I've been watching these football combines and it made me wonder what some of the worlds strongest men can do.
    When I get sad, I stop being sad. And be awesome instead.

    I'm a competitive strongman (amatuer) and my best is 225 x 24. IFSA used to have a bench event I think with 400 lbs for reps. I'm not sure if its ever been used, but you can check it out on their website if it hasn't been taken off. (that was back in the day when bodybuilders did strongman) Benching is not a "necessary" lift, however in alot of contests now you will see an incline log press for reps, usually 250-300 lbs for lightweight and 300-350 lbs for heavies.

    The WNPF has a Bench for Reps Competition in which you press your bodyweight.

    I watched Flavio Danna from Brazil rep 200 lbs (in the 198's) 41 times

    He told me that his max was 518 lbs (1RM) in the gym.

    Louie Simmons mentions him in one of his articles. Louie says he's seen him do 480-485 lbs...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On another note, for those interested, I started a related Thread some time back.
    Yeah, Michael Belk did 59 reps with 225.
    The video used to be here, but it's not working for me:
    http://media.putfile.com/Belk-225
    I think that's the most I've ever heard of, except for some apocryphal story of how many reps Ronnie did with 225 at some expo.
    I think that's the most I've ever heard of, except for some apocryphal story of how many reps Ronnie did with 225 at some expo.
    the first powerlifting meet I ever went to, when I walked in the first guy I saw was Michael Belk....dude was like 4 feet wide, then he turned sideways and was still about 4 feet wide, lol. I came back to my gym and all of a sudden the "big guys" all looked more like medium guys
    btw, reps for the word "apocryphal"...good one
    guy walks in to the gym,200 lbs, hair in a mullet, I go to to a gym with lots-o-cardio bunnies, but its nice, with him his elderly father(125 lbs) and he goes stright for bench 135..1 rep......225 2 reps......315 1 reps........365 easy triple....315 10 reps.......then he does 225 for what seemed to be a solid 90 seconds, well he didnt lock out each rep but it was still crazy, never saw him or his mullet again but i remeber him and he rembers me repping 515 on deads.
    LOL
    Lot of misinformation in that thread.
    To the best of my memory (without really searching), the best 1-rep max by a football player was OL Larry Allen who is currently with the 49er's. He was somewhere around 700 but I don't remember the actual number. Since he has a nice layer of fat on him, he tired quickly but could still usually do 40-43 reps at 225.
    For the combine, I think the record was 46 reps by OL Dave Fiore. Not sure if that has been broken as I don't pay as much attention as I used to. Now that I think, it may have only been 44 reps. Either way, Dave Fiore had it somewhere around 45.
    BTW- for the record, Yes, I think Quinn's 24 reps at 225 is impressive when you factor in how much other training football players do that is counterproductive to having brute strength.
    ROFL not this again. Gotta love Larry Allen and his 700 lb bench. Someone get these people their own sticky at the top with Bodysteele supervising.
    EDIT: The other stats besides Larry Allen's 700 bench may be legit, but 40 reps isn't really that unusual considering how big those guys are. 225x24@227 lbs is a strength feat that could be replicated by many many people in your local college gym. What sets that guy apart is not his benching skills, it's his football playing skills.
    Do you have proof that he didn't bench anywhere near that?
    I agree about Brady's bench. It's not that impressive compared to powerlifters, but how many of those people could go out and finish the sprint/agility/conditioning drills that he is constantly doing. That's the difference, two different training regimens with totally different goals in mind. For the most part, football players train for explosive, multi-plane strength whereas powerlifters train for raw, unadulterated brute strength. Not saying one is better than the other, just different.
    Edit: I'd have to say as well that Allen's bench more than likely wouldn't have counted in a PL meet, since football players don't bench the same, but how do you know he didn't do it?
