    Working out late at night..

Hello, I'm currently doing the rippetoe program, and on two days of the week I work out at night after dinner around 9:00P.M.
After this work out I drink my supplement and go to bed maybe an hour after.
Is their any negatives too working out late at night and drinking your supplement late at night?

Well for some it might interfere with their sleep. But if all is good with that, I see no problem at all.

The major negative would be the lack of protein you are feeding your body after a workout. A post-workout supplement is a good start, but you really should consider taking a nap before your workouts and having at least a serving of meat after your workouts to ensure you are not starving your body of the protein it seeks after training.

Yeah but a good protein shake would take care of it with some other stuff. I mean it all depends on what time he was to wake up also. If not till later, he can eat.

Post workout meal is essential, eat again after the workout.

I also was stuck in this rut due to not getting home from work till 7:00 PM.

Ive had great results eating a large snack at work right before I leave. Ill usually have a couple handfuls of dry cereal or oats and a couple spoonfuls of natty peanutbutter. Ill digest on my evening commute, that way I can hit the gym immediately instead of waiting till after dinner then giving it more time to digest. I can usually start my workouts by 7:30 now, and Im usually eating my dinner at 9:00 or 9:30. No more working out till 11:00 pm anymore.
