    When do you use icey hot?

    I've never used it before believe it or not, but i have a nagging groin injury (i think it's just a reoccuring strain), and in another post people recommended icey hot

    should i apply it before a workout or after?

    I know it may sound funny, but you gotta be careful with icy hot and the groin area... there are some very sensitive regions down there.

    I use Icy hot pre-workout to help get the blood flowing/ loosen up the area a bit. If you feel like you could use it after too go ahead. Ice works well post-wo too if you aggravate it more.

    This might just be me, but for me, I find that Icyhot doesn't work that well on me. If Icyhot doesn't work for you, ive found Bengay is real good. Just like dfm85 said though, be careful where you apply it.

    Man, I have the same problem... does Icy Hot/Ben Gay actually do anything to help the injury heal (through induced blood flow or something) or is it just temporary pain relief? Does it help prevent the injury from becoming worse in any way? I've never used the stuff...

    No it doesn't help you heal at all other than psychological relief or distraction from pain or discomfort. Icy hot only cools the skin and skins nerves, but doesnt penetrate deep into the muscle like ice does.

    the R.I.C.E. method is still best for most people.

    i only use it when i want to slightly loosen something up after. for actual pain, stiffness and soreness i use capsasin. 9874235234 times hotter than icy hot, and a little bit more than tiger balm. especially if you get it wet. DO NOT put it on the inner thigh or lower back if you will be sweating as it will liquify and find a away into certain sensitive areas. inner thigh is bad too for rubbing reasons.

    icy hot/heat does not do anything to heal. it just makes it feel better. ice is what heals. especially on a groin injury, you dont wanna be putting heat cream down there to begin with. ice ice ice. maybe even an ice bath would help get it all around the unit.

    no i dont mean putting it in a bucket of ice. i mean filling the bathtub with cold water and ice and soaking for a good 10-15min. itll help rejuvanate the legs aswell.

    I use icy hot and tiger balm on my elbow before every baseball practice and game. Helps to releive the pain, at least during the game
