I think I pulled a muscle. The pain is on my right side, in the middle of my torso, at the bottom of my rib cage. It's painful to cough, and perform daily activities. I was working out intensely last week and I'm assuming that's what it's from. Few questions I have:
1) Is this common?
2) What exercise probably caused this? I did a lot of chest exercises last week, flat bench, flat flyes, incline bench, incline flyes, decline bench
3) Could you guess the specific muscle I pulled?
4) How long should I rest before I start lifting again?
Thanks!

You should definately have a doctor take a look at it.
It could be something serious.*Professional comic book geek* *semi-pro cartoon collector* *full time nerd*

It sounds like similar symptoms to a hernia or a strain or some sort.
I would personally get it checked out by a professional just to be safe.
Good luck!*Professional comic book geek* *semi-pro cartoon collector* *full time nerd*

Thanks for your reply. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Costochondritis. You can read up on it here:

Sounds like excessive exercise could have been the cause of it. Nothing too serious, but it is pretty painful.
