Less than 5 months to get into the best shape possible
I'm new to bb.com, thanks to my lovely boyfriend who got me into this world as of a month ago. We just moved in together and his lifestyle is rubbing off on me. He has been going at bodybuilding seriously for about a year now, and I couldn't be more proud of the progress he has made. Now, it's time I match his progress and go further. (A little competition is good for relationships, eh?) So here's a little background about me:
I've been dancing since I was 3 and danced competitively until I was 8, then I had to quit because my family moved away from the studio I grew up at. Then a few years later, I went back to my home studio, even though it was about an hour's drive there. (Thanks Mom and Dad) It was there where I created my basis of my training and learned everything I know about dance today. I am trained in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, and a touch of hip-hop. Lyrical and jazz are my passions, though. Anyways, I trained at my original studio until I was 15, when the drive 3x/week grew tiresome for my parents and I had to find a studio closer to home. I did, and they were great, but I was the oldest one in the highest levels and I just didn't seem to fit in. It was then when I decided to quit the studio thing and stop competing through studios. I danced all through high school and was captain of my HS dance team for 2 years, which was such a blast and I miss it so much, even now. After HS, I taught at a studio down the street from my house for 3 years, however we weren't as good technically than what I was used to and my boss didn't really know what/who she was dealing with, so I quit, even after being a full time competition instructor. I was just not getting the credit I deserved. Thankful for the experience though, I have something to look forward to in the future careerwise. As you may have guessed, I was in shape when I was younger because I danced pretty much like a full-time job. I gained weight in HS and I pretty much haven't changed since. I've never had the typical idealistic "dancer's body type" nor do I want it. My goal now is to get into the best physical shape I can be in, and become the best dancer I have every been in my entire life. I'm young, so this IS possible. If I am confident enough, there is an audition for the Phoenix Suns Dancers mid-July that I would love to audition for. My dance teachers growing up were NFL/NBA cheerleaders and they loved it, so I'm following in their footsteps. Thanks Miss Robyn! haha
Stats: Height: 5'6" Weight: 155 lbs BF%: 28-31? (I need to do a test, update later)
I literally just started my lifting routine last week, so I am very new to this. Any critiques, info, advice, comments, etc. are always appreciated and welcomed.

This was taken last summer in Vegas. My mom, my best friend and I got dressed up to go see Thunder From Down Under. OH lordy, those men! haha

This pic was taken a year and a half ago, but I'd be willing to bet that I haven't changed much since.

So here's the start of this week.
Monday: Push workout
Pushups, 4 sets until failure
Incline DB press 10 lbsx12-15 reps, 4 sets
Flys ^^^
Lateral Raises 5 lbs, 4 sets, as many reps as possible
Bent over lat raises, same as above.
Dips, 4 sets until failure.
I do these exerices in 2 circuits. I start with pushups, DB press, flys. 2nd is dips, lat raises, and bent over lats. It takes about 20-30 minutes since I only rest between sets for about a minute or so. I like to keep my body moving so my muscles don't get cold and I keep my HR up. Then I cool down on the elliptical for 10-15 minutes, or until I have to go get ready for work.
I have dance from 7-10pm, a jazz tech class, then a rehearsal from 8:30-10 for the faculty dance concert in April. I have to work all day, so I'm probably going to get up early and hit the gym. I love my sleep though!

I didn't make into the gym today because I didn't get to sleep until 2:30am last night, and I had to wake up at 7 for work. So, getting up 6:00 was not going to happen. Luckily I had dance for 2 hours tonight, so I got some exercise in, but it wasn't gruelling. I didn't get to come home today after work because I live about an hour away from work and school, so I stayed in the area after work and caught a flick. And no, I didn't get any movie snacks either! I stood in line, looked up at the menu, and realized I didn't want anything! Not even popcorn or raisinets! (My usual movie treats). I did have an apple and a South Beach Diet Protein snack bar and water instead.
I ate pretty well today, until I got home and scarfed down a ton of ground beef w/ spaghetti sauce and some spaghetti noodles. That's what I get for not getting enough nutrients throughout the day. So I ate about 400 extra kcals for the day. It wasn't that bad, I just ate more of what I would have normally.
M1: Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal w/ 1 tbsp. natural PB and blueberries
M2:Progresso Healthy Classics chicken and wild rice soup, 2 cups. SBD PB cookies.
M3: PB&J-SF jam, low carb bread, natural PB. Apple, SBD protein snack bar
M4: 1.5 scoops Optimum Protein Isolate shake
M5:Spaghetti w/ meat sauce.
Kcals: 2,021 Carbs:226 Fat: 56 Protein: 151
I think today my fat and protein levels were good, just a little too many carbs, which made my calories higher. Damn pasta! At least it's not regular pasta though, it was whole wheat. So, I don't feel that bad. :-P
Dance was good tonight. My instructor is getting over this flu bug that's going around, so she wasn't as enthusastic as she normally is. Plus, I was a bit tired from my lack of sleep. I started a rehearsal tonight for the faculty dance concert. It's going to be fun, nothing special though, I must say. Just good ole' jazz dancin'. That's my specialty.
Tomorrow should be fine. I'll get in the gym tomorrow night after work and make up for today. Goodnight!

This week was very VERY bad. I didn't get into the gym one day this week. I had a busy schedule this week, plus it was that time of the month, and when I was home, all I wanted to do was sit around, eat, and sleep. I don't feel sick or anything, just unmotivated to do anything. I did have dance for 4 hours Wednesday, and I went swimming today for about 15 minutes. I felt good, but I would hardly call that a workout.
I learned on Wednesday night during my jazz class that dancers have the cardiovascular strength of a sedentary person. Hmm...
