supplements for 60 years old woman
I am planning on giving my mom supplement more than just glucosamine for her joints.
She is near 60 and have some problem with joints so she took glucosamine&chondroitin (I gave her "joint repair" by dymatize).
She is around 5' and 100lbs, very petite lately she's telling me that sometimes she felt faster beat on her heart and felt very weak on that particular day.
Doctor just tell her to take red clover supplement to cope with her menopause condition and some multivitamin, but I'm also thinking of giving her some protein powder to complement her daily food regimen since she's little very little.
I am hoping with extra protein, she will feel better overall.
Any suggestion on supplements or foods or whatever to better her health?
Really appreciate any suggestion. Thank you.
PS. regularly she is doing taichi for her exercise.

Faster heartbeat can mean there is something in the glucosamine&chondroitin that she is reacting to. As we age, food intolerances, particularly to shellfish and milk, just pop out of the woodwork. Glucosamine&chondroitin is a sulfate, a big source of problems for many. I'd focus more on her diet rather than supplements. Not just in the quality of the foods she eats but the frequency.

try RejuvenAge 40+ Multivitamin
it has a great many factors in it for people over 40. its cheapest at iherb.com where a months supply is less than $21.00. Another suggestion would be a good probiotic.

i have opened the website that you suggested, but i don't think that they will send it to my country; I will try to find their product in singapore's gnc.

menopause supplements
Menopause supplements come in both natural forms and as medical supplements. It is always better to take a natural menopause supplement in the form of green vegetables. Natural ingredients also do not have any side effects compared to medicines. http://www.menopausesupplement.net/

with glucosamine and chondroitin, MSM is usually combined.
I have seen some clients over 50 years old benefit with fish/flax oil supplements for joint inflammation/pain also.

My wife is just a smidge younger than your mom. (yes you could be my son)
She has been taking glucosamine&chondroitin as well and it hasn't done spit.
Best I can see is placebo effect for your mom.
OTOH, good diet with some real training could help.
The taichi is good for her head, useless for her body.
She should try some real weight training. Its good for her bones and for her overall health.
God bless.

Calcium?
Calcium would probably help. My wife and I take it, along with the glucosamine, and both have helped.
We also both take fish oil.

magnesium for heart
but get something besides oxide. Magnesium is important to all bodily functions and most people are deficient. It is much more important than calcium for bone health also. It helps sleep and relaxation along with promoting healthy bowel movements.
At the site I mentioned earlier they have a supplement called serrapeptase that has glowing reviews for arthritis and pain relief. Fish oil is also recommended.

I am one of those who are allergic to the shellfish in Glucosamine and found out the hard way. However I am a very strong believer in a natural herbal supp that has been around for several years now, Cissus. I have used it to recover from a couple of Rotator Cuff problems for which I refused Doctor's treatment. Nothing soothes my joints, or my wife's, as well as Cissus. I prefer to use the Cissus RX version from USPLabs for joints and tendons as the less expensive ones seem not to work quite as well for healing.

she ate like most people in general, breakfast of a glass of milk (i gave her whey protein) and toast with jam, white rice and grilled chicken for lunch, snack at 16.00 with bread filled with chocolate spread, and then for dinner usually she cook fish and some soup.
she also supplements with glucosamine/chondroitin/msm and red clover and antioxidants (a,c,e), and calcium.

Thank you all :)
I do really appreciate all the sincere comments and suggestions from you all.
Tomorrow I will read all of your reply to my mom and we will work it out to find a way so she will be able to start some weight-training.
Also fine-tune her diet regimen? extra protein should be fine with her health, is that right?
And yes, I will also try to fine cissus in local supps store.
Thank you all for your kind attentions.
Sincerely,
Alvin

No fruits and vegetables?
and lots of sugar...wow! the American diet gone wild. She needs to cut out jam, chocolate spread, bread and white rice. Substitute fruits and raw vegetables and brown rice. Avoid bread and white flour as well. It would be hard to be healthy on a diet without fruits or vegetables. These are the natural medicines that the Earth provides us.

Almonds and walnuts... the best of fats and good for joints as well.
Best supplements...
FishOil Omega3- good brand about 2000 Units a day usually 3 gel tabs
Glutamine - builds recovery, helps build and retain muscle
Protein - no need to say anything if she is working out, she'll crave it.
------------------------------------------
If she is on meds, then it might be best to consult with an internist.

did you ask the doctor if glucosamin is safe for her? Cause like the rest said it is a sulfate. And maybe it'll be best to concentrate on what she should and shouldn't eat. Her meals and food that she eats would probably play a big role. Go to her doctor and go over EVERYTHING, from what she eats, her supplements, and what she does all day. Thats what we did for my grandma cause her knees and elbow joints were weak. MAYBE a chiropractor might help?
