splitting up leg training, ideas?

i want to separate my leg day now to see if that'll help produce better results, and was wondering if anyone had a good routine they do already that has been good. right now, on a leg day i usually do free weight squats (feet out and in), hack squats, leg extension, leg curl, calf raise, and lunges.

drop the leg curls and extensions. Do stiff legged deadlifts for hams, sumo squats for hams and glutes....front squats and ATG squats for quads. (sumo squats will target your glutes and inner thighs). Calves can be trained on both days....calf raises with high reps and lots of weight and donkey calf raises also with lots of reps and weight. Good luck! If you go heavy and deep, you won't need more than 4 sets of 8....won't be able to walk for a few days also!

Agree. The most obvious split would be ham/quad.
However, I feel that with two leg days and no splitting but simply doing compounds such as deads, squatvarieties, lunges etc. you should see results anyway.

I agree. To build up my hams one season I split my quads and hams training them separately and made great gains and created better balance.

Talking Oh! I tried this! :)

I split my leg day into Glutes/Hams and Quads/calves about 6 months ago (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=4496383) and had awesome results. They just weren't developing evenly, and now I finally have some separation there.

I do wide squats and lunges along with ham curls on the first day, front squats and quad extensions on the other. Also toss in pitcher squats and leg presses if time permits. I highly recommend splitting legs!
