Do you count the weight of the bar when recording weight?

In my work out journal I do not add in the weight of the bar. It is only me looking at the journal so i know exactly what I am looking at.

I tend not to because I can't remember how much the bar weighs :-)

I think if a butterfly flew over and landed on the bar during my benchpresses, I'd be asking him how much he weighs so I could add him in too.

I didn't used to, as skiezik says there's only you looking at your journal, but after finding out that the bar that I squat with weighs 20kg! I lift it so now include it

The average olympic bar in a gym weighs 45 pounds... so yeah, count it.

Does anyone know the weight of an average E-Z Bar? The one I use is about 1 inch in circumference (i.e., it accepts plates with a 1-inch opening in the center).

The EZ bar I have is hollow aluminum. It weighs less than 2lbs.

duh, of course you record the weight of the bar, come on man. on bench its a must. or anything else associated with a bar.

I can’t see how somebody wouldn’t add it in, it is standard in Bodybuilding.

Pole = 45lbs
Plate= 135lbs
Plate and a quarter = 185lbs
2 Plates = 225lbs
2 Plates and a quarter =275lbs
3 Plates =315lbs
3 Plates and a quarter =365lbs
4 Plates= 405lbs

I don't record the weight of the bar in my journal, but if I post my wieghts, or tell anyone, I add it in.

I know what it weighs, so I don't bother putting it in my journal. Too much extra math when I'm trying to lift.

The weight's fairly irrelevant, all you need to know is relative improvement in the number of reps or amount of plates.

IF the weight matters to you, just make an assumption that it weighs an arbitrary amount, say 25 lb., and add it in, otherwise always leave it out and it won't matter.
