Raw oats, 600 calories (they are pretty dense). Think of a cup of any whole grain, it's pretty heavy compared to oatmeal.
Dry rolled oats (with the outside layer milled off), about 300 per cup. If you look at the actual weight, which is listed after the 1 cup volume, you can see that a cup of oatmeal weighs about half as much as a cup of raw grain, so it makes sense.

Rolled= 150 per 1/2 cup, 300 per cup
Steel cut= 150 1/4 cup, 600 per cup

WTF is the difference between rolled & steel cut oats? I use raw quaker oats, I'm assuming that's rolled since they're 300cal/cup

Another reason for separating the outer layer from the inside of the grain is b/c they can be sold separately for more $$ as rolled oats and oat bran...
