Cool Replacing protein shake with food?

    Hi guys.

I usually take 1 protein shake per day at around 3:00 in the afternoon. I am starting to get fed up of the taste and I don't find it is giving me any results. I was wondering if I should maybe replace it with some good snacks like nuts, cheese, or some yogourt. I'm in the ectomorph category. I have trouble putting on weight. What do you guys think?

    Thanks.

It is always good to eat real food instead of a shake, except for right after you work out. So if that 3:00 shake is not postworkout, then by all means replace it with real food. Make sure that you are getting a good amount of complete protein in the food you choose to eat though.

If you do replace it with real food, make sure it's a meal, and not just a little snack. You say you have trouble gaining weight, so make sure your taking in a good amount of calories. I've always been able to put on weight farely easily, and one thing I do is take in a huge amount of carbs everyday. I'm 5'11'' and weigh a little over 200 w/ about 10-11%bf, so it's not making me fat. I usually take in around 500g of carbs a day. Give this a try and see if you can put on some weight.

What if I would eat after my workout too? Instead of taking the shake...would that be good?

    Thanks.

you can eat tuna, chicken breast and have mashed potatoes or white rice, since yours goal is to gain weight.
After lifting these hihg glycemic's would spike your insulin, which post workout, acts as an anabolic.

you can replace a protein shake with high protein foods like egg whites or tuna... however do not look to gain much with one protein shake per day. You want to consume 2-3 shakes daily on top of a good eating diet of 3 high, good calorie and high protein meals

    Cool

Nothing can beat real food in terns of gaining weight or losing bf. Replace the shake with some cottage cheese & fruit or some eggs on toasted bagel.

its better to have a liquid supplement for post workout. if you dont like your protein shake, gatorade should do it ok for post workout. 30 minutes-1 hour later, eat some potatoes and some form of solid food protein.
