glucosamine & chondrotin

I bought some generic glucosamine & chondrotin 500/400mg pills today. I've been reading some stuff saying that this stuff can cause water retention. is this true? if so how serious of bloating is it? like creatine monohyrdate bloat? i noticed some other brands that i didnt buy on the container said like no added sugar etc. these ones list the ingrediants as
glucosamine sulfate complex 500mg
chondrotin sulfate 400mg
other ingrediants: geletin capsule (geletin, purified water) with cellulose and vegetable grade magnesium stearate(lubricant)

I've never experienced that myself. I've used both Optimum and am currently using NOW. In fact I double-dose on the NOW (3 pills twice a day) because of my increased workouts (recently started X-Factor).

A different glucosamine product from NOW says " Both of these constituents attract and bind water into cartilage, increasing resiliency. GAG's and proteoglycans trap and hold water, forming a dense fluid cushion within the joint and thus, provide lubrication and shock absorption." But I don't know if that necessarily means water retention to the extent of bloating.

Well, it does cause your cartilage to hold more water, but this is just as a result of the joint support. It will not cause you to look bloated and will only aid in your joint pain relief.

Nope, no worries. The added water is just to "lubricate" the joints to relieve pain.
