I want to start lifting
I don't know where to start. I'm 15, 5'6, about 200 lbs with a bf% of 30 or higher. I have very little muscle mass for my weight and don't know if I should cut or bulk, and what my diet should look like. my pics are on my bodyspace, any help is appreciated.

if you're 30% bf, cut that in half and then bulk
edit: i hate it when people just come in and say "search function" and offer no advice. the search function here sucks ass.

why high reps? all that's going to do is give him endurance.

you should try HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)- look it up on this site. Also lift weights. At your point you can build muscle and lose fat simultaneously- though as you get more advanced this will not be the case.
Whatever you do, do it smart. Read as much as you can on this site- your n00b gains will be greatly enhanced if you do.
Just remember, losing fat is a lot easier than building muscle (losing fat is especially easy if you're doing it SMART). So you really shouldnt get discouraged- if you do, you will get bitched out on the forum. Just look at some of the transformations on bodybuilding.com- that will be you.

or he can just do regular cardio...
since he is just starting out he'll be able to add a bit of muscle while losing fat, no sense in doing 15+ reps, especially on compound lifts

actually- at your age you might want to hold off of lifting for maybe 2 years (i know a lot of people might disagree especially since this is a teen forum) but your only 5'5" so you shouldnt take the chance. your answer lies in HIIT. DO HIIT

at your height/age I wouldnt recommend rippetoes... I really think you're a little young.
but you should hear some other opinions on that. I know being jacked is probably the most useful (socially) when you are in high school at which point its usefulness socially decreases- but not having stunted growth is always important.

honestly I dont know the answer to the age/lifting thing as its never been something that concerned me. But I still believe you should be doing HIIT.

Yeah, that sounds perfect.
Learn good form, espically on squat and most importantly, deadlift.

Yeah, you squat, then throw the bar over your head, let hit the ground then pull it up.

you see, squads target the quadriceps more whereas squats are more of a total lower body thing

Yea thanks, so I'm going to be doing HIIT and Rippetoe's, but what should my diet look like, and what supplements should I be taking? Should I take whey? How much whey should I take? I always use to be worried that I would gain fat from taking it.

I just looked up some things on HIIT and this guy says if your bulking, to only do the running one day of the week, and the rest should be workouts. Will that do any good for me or should I make it 2 days a week. and any advice on what my diet should look like and supplement intake? Since I'm kind of bulking and losing fat at the same time, how much should I eat?

you should probably start cutting first and at your age you shouldn't need any supps, maybe whey if you can't get much protein into your diet.
