Ketosis
It's caused by a lack of carbs only correct? No fat has to be present, from what I understand anyway. Correct?

No you need fat to act as your primary fuel. Going low fat as well will lead to failure.

That's not what I asked, I asked if you could obtain ketosis without having fat... Something like a PSMF like diet.
That's what Lyle Mcdonald said anyway.

I read that fat has to be at least 40% of the caloric profile to get into ketosis.

Show me where please.
I'm reading a Lyle Mcdonald book where he clearly states, "You can get into ketosis, without dietary fat."

No, ketosis happens whether your dietary fat is high or not. It's a response to starvation (or in this case, simulated starvation). It occurs when you're glycogen depleted because fatty acids either degrade to acetyl CoA or are converted to ketones. We can't always use the Krebs Cycle for energy, so we need ketones to make up the energy difference. We still produce glucose from amino acids/pyruvate. Ketones can also be formed from amino acids. So you'll be in ketosis whether your dietary fat is high or not, the only thing that changes is the substrate used for ketone formation.

You can get into ketosis on low fat, but it's harder, and you will feel like crap. I've done a PSMF, and I was constantly hungry. When I switched back to keto, I was eating almost twice the cals, but lost twice the weight and enjoyed my food again.

Hi, gfundaro.
I know you know a lot about keto.
So I wanna ask you this.....
I havent had absolutely no carbs for almost 3 weeks.
No pre post carbs either.
I was starvin and wanted to eat sweets but now I got used to it and Im not hangry and not craving anythin anymore. I see my 4 packs already.
I love keto.
I see everybodyelse do carb up but.... Im kinda scared to do it
My questions is
If I do carb up, my fat loss gonna Speed up? or just I can lift heavy?
Do you think Im totally depleated now? ( I lift hard everyday, overtrainingish )
If the carb up for me is beneficial and i plan to do carb up, do i sitll have to do whoule body work out before i start eatin carbs? ( no carbs for 3 weeks )
Do you think my metabolism has slowed up?

another reason I got away from a carb bulk, last time I gagged my entire family every day all day, and even at work I had to pop them out in corners because they literally hung around for minutes.
on my carb up I have alittle gas at night and the next morning but it goes away quickly and doesnt stink.
when cutting in keto you normally start dropping the fats when u need to drop the calories, so technically yes but usually the % is still higher vs. protein in the diet.

Yes. My family want me to live in the garden shed on carb-up.
