Question How Often should you EAT STEAK?

I heard in mens journal you should only eat steak 1 time a month...cause it can cause clogged arteries....

So how often is ok to eat steak?

Clogged arteries.... I don't think so. If you ate a large amount of fatty cuts of meat e.g. sausage, salami, hamburger mince etc, you may end up with a cholesterol problem, but lean red meat is very low in fat so by all means, eat away. I have red meat about 3 times a week.

We have this really BIG bodybuilder come in to my store. He ONLY eats red meat, and he has been doing this for years, complication free.
    Get top round/flank steaks...some options.
I wouldnt recomend eating it only, but I dont think lean red will harm you.

Yep, that's pretty much it. The problem is the "steak and potatoes" guys.

You know the ones... they eat only meat and carbs, slather their mashed potatoes with tons of (REAL ONLY!) butter and salt, never drink water (it's coffee and/or soda for them, who needs that water ****??), and then pile dessert on top of it all after they've filled themselves on the biggest T-bone they can find, a full pile of potatoes (having ignored the steamed veggies), a roll slathered in (REAL ONLY!!) butter, and drank 3 cups of coffee.

Come on, you know what I mean.

If your diet is sensible, and you eat the steak without all the added trappings and the real butter on your mountain of potatoes and your 2 dinner rolls and without added sugar and heavy (REAL ONLY!!) cream in your 3 coffees... you're probably not a prime candidate for heart disease.

Striploin is also quite a lean steak. I often cut a very lean sirloin into thin strips and stir fry it in olive oil. It makes a great quick snack.

Steak is a natural fat. I won't clog arteries. Toxins and trans fat lead to plaque in the arteries.

I eat steak once a week, even pre-contest. I eat it right up to my show, even the night before to harden up.

It's funny when people think processed "low-fat" items are more healthy than what Mother Nature provided.

    Get lean cuts.

You can use seasoning, just don't use things like sugared seasonings, or seasonings with a lot of fat content.

Spices, though, are good for you! So is garlic.

Depends on how well done you like them. I am not sure what the lean cuts are, since I dislike steak. However, yes, fat makes them more "tender". So does eating them more rare.

Real butter is a hell of a lot better for the body than the artificial **** they pass of as "butter" . Same with sugar. I know many will disagree, but why would anyone believe an artificial man made product be better for you than what is completely natural? Sure, fat content may be lower but I worry more about the ramifications that may result from eating mutated, altered, or otherwise chemically enhanced creations.

get lean cuts - I find sirloin grilling steak to be the best for cooking (and no marinating is required). I brush olive oil on both sides, and then season, then grill. I also limit myself to 6 oz raw measure, and only cook to medium rare.

I'm not disputing that butter is better.

I will dispute that sugar is better.

The point is that even as it's "better," you still don't need 4 tablespoons of it on your potatoes, on top of what's already in it when it's made, and you don't need another 2 tablespoons of it on each of your 3 dinner rolls.

Even with "better" stuff, there comes a time when moderation would be appropriate.

Beef is a staple in my diet. 1-2 of my meals per day involve beef.

Yes, amount we can agree on. Natural sugar in my opinion is far better than saccharin, aspartame (which has been linked to severe neurological disorders), and splenda (which really hasnt been in use long enough to determine effects). Sugar only has 16 calories per tablespoon. Thats not bad, I dont drink sodas and such so sugar is not really an issue for me. I am soon going to be raising my own meat, and vegetables to go along with my own eggs I now get from chickens. I have read more and more about the dangers of the modified food we eat. Its scary when you dig far enough into it.

I think sugar is equal to the chemicals you mention, particularly in the fact that most people in America where I live eat pounds and pounds of it per year. Stevia, guava (sp?) syrup, and honey are far better and healthier alternatives. Unfortunately, sugar consumption is on the rise to the degree that it's of extreme difficulty to find sugar free foods nowdays.

But my point earlier was that most "meat and potatoes" men eat excessive amounts of pretty much everything, while the most lifting they do is their fork with a huge chunk of food on it. This leads to the "everything is bad for you" syndrome that they get. They decide that since everything is bad for them, they'll eat more of it and thus "enjoy their lives" before they die of the predictable maladies they get.

I mean, nowdays, "even breathing is bad for you," so "why worry about any of it..." after all, "it'll all change tomorrow." I see that attitude all the time. It usually comes from these meat and potatoes guys, smokers, or alcoholics. When given to excess, people will justify it with things like, "well, it's not as bad as the guy who eats all that sugar, at least I eat steak."

Interesting that you mention Stevia. Did you know, I just read this teh other day, that it used to be used among certain tribes of african men for birth control? Thats right, Stevia can affect fertility in men. Interesting tidbit I found the other day. I sweeten my green tea with honey and my regular tea with sugar. Best sugar I ever had was raw sugar when I was in Honduras, but dont see a lot of places to buy that here in Arkansas HAHA.

I agree with Ms. Fit as well. Precontest I eat steak twice a week and off season it's kind of whenever I feel like eating red meat. Unfortunately, I don't care for it too much....try to experiment with other red meats such as buffalo and very lean ground beef (96%). Lean cuts are best just like mentioned already and I usually will go the extra mile and trim off anything that's visible.

I've never heard that. I'd be interested to see the article, if it's a link. Even in FDA's sugar company endorsed and conducted "study," I didn't hear anything about that.

I use it all the time in my cooking, so my boyfriend's been using it for 6 months now, and I just got pregnant. So it must not be too reliable a form of birth control, hehe.

    when i bulk 2x a day

when im not bulking once every couple days

and watch the amount of sodium you take in with steak, the seasoning that people typically use for steak is very high in sodium.

i dont put any seasoning on my steak, but I do eat it with a little big of steak sause, maybe a couple tablespoons per every 6-8oz steak.
