Clean bulking? Why can't I lose "weight" while gaining muscle yet not overeating..?

Hi,

I am currently training for my first figure competition and seem to be in a bulking phase without eating all the extra food, which is confusing me. Meaning, I'm gaining muscle, losing fat (my trainer measures me every two weeks so I KNOW my BF is going down) and yet the scale is going up. As a woman its frustrating to be working HARD and see that *&%@'n scale go up even though I'm slowly looking better...

Suggestions on:

(a) why I'm not losing any "weight" on that scale; and
(b) how to get over it, mentally, that gaining "weight" is ok in the big picture of muscle gain...

Thanks so much!!
Marna

well first of all muscle weighs almost twice as much as fat so thats ok. as long as your BF% drops and so does your measurements then you should be fine. so actually your doing it perfectly normal as far as i know.

Lol your doing awesome, thats exactly what most people wish they could do. Dont even worry about your weight as long as your BF% is going down. Like Xraided said muscle weighs more then fat so it only makes sense that you would gain a little weight, but for your upcomming competition your on course 100% it seems.
