    bad back ab exercises

I'm new here and am not a body builder. I injured my back riding rodeo many years ago. I'm 6'4", 209 but as with most men have that nagging gut but the effort to exercise is extremely painful to my back. I do regular stretching and am improving on diet but still I must lost this gut.
    Open to any suggestions/advice. Thanks.

As far as things are being posted around here, there is no one workout to target the extra in the gut area. Losing weight overall is the best way to go about this. The problem is, I'm guessing you can't run like a lot of people are able to, but maybe take on some swiming as cardio? Depending what your doctor says your limits are, do some cardio to get that gut off.

Also, keep up with the dieting, nothing better than a great diet to give you energy and physique at the same time

I second the diet. Please read all stickies at the top of the page.

The "gut" you are trying to rid has little to do with how big/strong your abs are. It is dependent on the amount of fat you have. And you can't target a fat zone - your body loses fat where it thinks it should first.

Read the stickies on the threads titled "Nutrition" and "Losing Fat" - they should get you started.

yea i agree with him. You might wanna loose some weight and have add a general total body workout to your normal regimen as your body fat decreases you'll start looking that gut. I noticed that you said working out hurts your back but there must be a way for you to maybe rehab your back and at the same time just work with very light weights. If you your going to need to focus on your diet and staying active. Cardio would probably be key in this case. BUT diet will be very important. Probably more important than working out because without a proper diet you won't really get far

Thank you for the encouragement. I just purchased a recumbent cycle for the cardio. Your diet words also help. Thanks again.
