Sweatiest Bodybuilder EVER??
Does anyone else have problems with EXTREME sweating? I seem to sweat more than anyone I know; it's even a problem when I'm not working out (especially in social situations). I'm in very good shape, and oddly it seems the more muscle gains I make, the worse my sweating gets. It's to the point now where I can pit out my shirts almost instantly. Very embarrassing. Sometimes I wear two layers of shirts hoping that will disguise it but I'll soak through both....
I probably have the worse problem with facial sweating. My face sweats ridiculously easily. For example, tonight I was doing concentration curls and after just two sets I got to the point where I was dripping sweat off the end of my nose, one drop per second, and (no lie) I was forming a sweat puddle on the floor....
Does anyone else sweat this much? Is it at all related to training? nutrition? genetics? anxiety maybe?
Please advise.

You probably have hyperhidrosis ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperhidrosis). I used to massively pit out non stop, and it was ruining my social life. I actually considered suicide several times because it was so bad. I asked a doctor about it and he prescribed Drysol (aluminum chloride). You apply this stuff at night before you go to sleep, and when you wake up there's no sweating for at least 24 hours. Stuff basically saved my life. I used it from my junior year in high school to my sophomore year in college, sometimes using it only every other night. I don't have any problems anymore.
Get yourself some Drysol man. Have fun living life for a change.

Thanks for the info. Can drysol also be used on the face/scalp? Or is it just for underarms?

http://www.drugs.com/PDR/Drysol_Solution.html says scalp use is okay, but doesn't say anything about face. It just says "keep it out of your eyes".

I use drysol, and it works like a charm, but it does cause redness. I wouldnt risk putting it on my face. I would hate to wake up with a red face. It also burns quite a bit the first few times, it would be unbearable on the face.
Good luck. Drysol(alumin chloride in general) changed my life. I used to be so embarassed about my sweating but I feel like I can enjoy lifenow. If you dont want to go to the doctors about it, you can get drysol off of ebay with no prescription.

hey bro, i have the same problem. it is really embarassing and ive tried a bunch of ways to hide it. then i got this stuff called Maxim. It works really well. sorry to sound like a commercial but i recomment it totally. The onlly thing is my skin is alergic to metal other than gold and silver (does that mean im spoiled?) and the main ingredient is like aluminum somethin. but if your skin isnt sensitive to metals then def get it. its like 20 bucks or somethin

Drysol is like a stick of deoderant you wipe on, or is it like a liquid?
I am definatly going to consider going to the doctor for this once I get back on insurance...

you said that the more muscle you gain, the worse it gets. well, fitter people tend to sweat faster because an efficient body takes less time to prepare itself for exercise, hence you probably only need to LOOK at a set of dumbells and your sweatin like a mo fo.
however, some people, like me, are just sweaty bitches anyway, and sweat all the time. so i used that driclor stuff, and it stopped. life changing stuff.

Dude
I have been using Drysol for 2 years now and lets just say it saved me big time. I was at one point going to do the whole operation thing to remove the sweat gland under my arm but then a friend recommended this product - use it and I promise you, you will not look back.

Oh and another thing you can get this product over the counter, no need to get it from your doc.
And yes it is a liquid that you role under the arm at night before you go to bed.

Alright, I have some serious reps to give to everyone in this thread who talked about Drysol. I had no damn idea there was a medicine for my problem, not to mention other guys who have it. I sweat such a disgusting amount that you wouldn't believe it. The main problem is my underarms, and I'm definitely gonna get some drysol.

Has anyone actually used drysol on their face/scalp? I'm wondering about irritation/burning. Or is there another product that can be used on face/scalp?

I sweat a lot from my head, more than anyone I know, but not much at all from my arm pits. I used to sweat a whole lot more before I kept away from MILK/CHEESE and GLUTEN. Of course remember that you will sweat more after heavy meals (so eat small amounts if going into social situations) and if you are wearing too many clothes!
I used to have it real bad, in supermarkets, in queues, walking any distance etc, anxiety does play a big part too. Just think "who gives a **** if I sweat, what does it matter?"

Yeah this thread has helped me a lot too...I didn't even know there was a condition called hyperhidrosis. Glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Yeah I sweat the most from my head and face. It sucks because there is no way you can hide that. That's funny you mentioned standing in line in supermarkets and stores...I sweat like a mofo in those situations. I'm always afraid that people think I'm shoplifting or something.'
Never heard of any correlation between heavy sweating and consumption of mike/cheese/gluten. I'll have to look that up.

i used to sweat even more in the winter. i dont know why, i think the cold kinda triggered it off. it was a year round nightmare, and i could only wear dark tops, and eventually all my tshirts had sweat stains on them, it was disgusting.
i still sweat like a bitch when im training, but at least im not dripping when im doing normal stuff

Yeah, if you have an intolerance to something that can make you sweat abnormally, at least I read someone someone was told their sweating was down to a gluten intollerance. I experimented and learned I had to avoid milk cheese and gluten.
If you are starting to sweat in queues/supermarkets etc then thats down to anxiety, its more of a trigger than a cause. Because you sweat a lot the thought and anxiety of sweating becomes the reason you sweat, relaxation techniques could help you here, but if examining your diet for food/supplement intolerances works then the anxiety will just leave you.

Yep, hyperhidrosis.
I have it on my hands Horrible for anything social. I tried maxim on them many years ago, didn't work. Also tried meds, and devices.
Hyperhidrosis is hereditary, but normally skips a generation. About 1% of the population has it by estimation.
Facial and hands being the worse, commonly its pits, back, feet, or any combination.
With my hands, once they start sweating, it triggers everything, legs, back, feet, it really sucks and hinders life so much. Certain things I cannot do like go without socks, unless I am sleeping or swimming. Leaving pools of water on the keyboard isn't too fun either.
Might try the drysol stuff, have tried everything else, why not...
Sucks you have it man, I feel your pain.
There is surgery, but DO NOT DO IT. Compensentory sweating can really mess you up and you will wish you had your original sweating back.
Its caused by overactive t nerves on the spine, the surgerys cut or clamp those and can really screw you up.

Dude
Speak to your doctor because if you medical aid covers it you could do the whole botox treatment, costs quite a bit but it will stop the sweating from 6-9 months in the areas that are treated. ETS treatment is good but yes as you say you could have comp sweating!
