TUNA!!!!... how to make it taste good?

Alright.. so i tried Tuna once.. and almost threw up when I got the sandwich like a foot from my face

i really wanna eat it and get used to it.. im going to college in September and i wanna make it a staple for me because of its high protein content and cheap price

I've heard of using Frank's Red Hot or Salsa.. so what do i do? just empty the can into a bowl and mix the salsa or FRH into it? any other ideas?

Thumbs up Guaranteed To Taste Good!

I laughed when I first read this post. Man I can make tuna taste like filet mignon. Anyway this is what you do.

    I can of tuna:

    2 spoonfulls of mayo
    2 spoonfulls of relish
squirt small amount of mustard into tuna
    1 boiled egg (diced)

mix together and refrigerate at least 1 hour before consuming. tastes absolutely great, tastes even better as a sandwich with some lettuce and tomato. Note: add more mustard for a more tangier taste. Pepper is good to add also
if i saw you walking down the street i'd karate chop you in the neck and put a vicious bare naked choke hold on you. then i'd tell you that studies prove once i put my vice grip on you, on average you have about 3-5 seconds max before you pass out.

-Tap out or pass out.. Today you get no option.

You drained it right? Didn't say that.

Oh well, most people get their first exposure to tuna from a tuna sandwich or pasta salad. Try a 6" tuna sub at subway. When you like the taste, make them yourself but start replacing the mayo with more healthy alternatives. The mayo masks the flavor well, but tuna is good in many other ways.

Also, cook some whole wheat rotini or bowtie pasta. Mix in 2 cans tuna, mayo, some frozen peas, celery and spices. Refrigerate. You won't taste the tuna and will learn to like it.

tuna salad (not really a salad) taste so good. You put mayo, mustard, relish, lemon pepper, garlic powder, some celery salt, some garlic salt. Put a decent amount of mayo not that much mustard. I could eat cans and cans of this at a time. its the ****. You can also put some diced up egg in it.

Definitely stick with the chunk white/lite tuna - I get the low sodium one. I bought the other stuff once(non chunk) and it was aweful. I have 6 cans of that crap left in my pantry - I'll prob just pitch them.

I add eggs, celery, onions, salt, pepper, mayo.

wow, i can't believe no one has suggested mrs. dash yet. That is the ultimate tuna spice.

    Mrs dash
    miracle whip/light mayo
    relish

is how I eat my tuna.

Or if you have more time, make a tuna melt, they're great.

It's like making a grilled cheese, except you put that tuna mixture in with the cheese. Spray the bread with Pam, and use whole wheat bread and fat free cheese if you want.

Tasty and healthy meal. I eat it all the time.

    Thumbs up

Hello, I do tuna either by combining ff mayo or ff salad dressing, relish and the tuna (boiled eggs diced are a bonus, but I rarely feel like taking the time to do that) OR (and I was being creative when I found this out because I had no mayo) combine ff catalina dressing, relish, and tuna. Either way, it definitely makes the tuna more enjoyable! Good luck with it!

    against healthy nutrition?

This is not intended to offend anyone who suggested mayo, but doesn't using that much mayo in congruence(sp?) with how much tuna we all mostly eat go against the nutritious part of eating healthy.

Disregard this comment if you were just using examples for the author of this thread to get used to tuna then start cutting out the mayo...I just wouldn't want him to think using so much mayo is good for you.

i don't really think mayo is that bad. I mean, a can of tuna is virtually fat free, so adding a tablespoon of even regular mayo is only 5g of fat, like 1g saturated. If for some reason you want less than even that (like you just had an especially fat heavy meal right before or something) you could always sub in miracle whip or fat free mayo. But then you'd have a meal with like 40g protein, 40-50g carbs and like 1g fat. Not a great ratio.

FF mayo usually has more sugars IIRC.

Went to souper salad the other day, they have a tuna mix, not tuna scroodle...mmmm) but tuna with olive oil and veggies. I at about 1/2 pound of it. It was great!
