I live 45 mins away from Alyeska resort in Girdwood, Alaska. So I go there a lot.
I love Beaver Creek in Colorado. Little bit less crowded than Vail, and I have so much fun running the Birds of Prey. Never was much of a powder skiier, I prefer the bumps and jumps.

also from AK, with alyeska as my local resort (2 hrs for me).
i've been to 3 in AK, 6 in CO, and whister/blackcomb in BC, and brighton, UT is my favorite resort so far. brighton has some sweet back country access.

my mountain: Big Mountain in Whitefish, MT
favorite mountain: Big Mountain in Whitefish, MT
been skiing there ever since i was in 2nd grade. It's a great resort that isn't crowded and has some great terrain.

My favorites are Snowbird and Alta in Utah. I don't like the culture as much around the resorts though. After 5pm it's dead.
I've also skiied and liked Vail and Breckenridge in Colorado and loved the towns around the resorts. In Canada I've skiied Sunshine, Lake Louise, and Norquay. The last one being the only one I did not care for (low on snow so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt).

End of discussion
I don't like Alta, because it is ALL skiers (Alta doesent allow snowboarders), the WHOLE mountain is one big patch of moguls. And the backcountry that isnt carved up isnt as good as Snowbirds.
That being said, the dual pass where you can ski to both is pretty good just incase you get bored.

my favorites are: snowbird and whistler
i also liked breckinridge, steamboat springs, taos in nm, etc
since i live on the east coast, skiing here doesnt really compare with out west. the best place on east coast would have to be killington or stowe
