He didn't respond to mine and it was a decent question. On the other hand why is it so hard to believe his arms were above 18 inch? they look about that much to me my arms are 17 inches and his look heaps bigger.

igf site injections? do you think that spot increases muscle size?? come on man, growth hormone can spot reduce fat, not increase muscle, and the difference between a 20inch arm and a 18inch arm is drastic....18 inches isnt even that big lol, you can find articles on bodybuilding.com where they mention franks arm size to be about 18 inches....you obviously have no idea what you are talking about

"I never took tape measurements nor measured percentage of body fat, because judging is based entirely on appearance. I took a lot of photos and I suggest you do the same. he's probably assuming that you are asking his measurements for practical reasons, like for how to attain that physique, how to train for it, so he suggests his training book. I wouldnt expect him to think that you are emailing him to end this ridiculous internet forum fued lol

i think people here underestimate zane's size. he just looks smaller compare to the big ass dudes he stands next to, if he stands next to an average dude or you or me, i bet he'll look like a beast. a big ****ing beast.

That is total bull****. There are very very few naturals who look as good as Zane in his prime, let alone better. What a crock of ****. Screw the measurements. I want to see pics of these naturals who look better than Zane. I have all the respect in the world for these guys, but in all seriousness, I've yet to see one guy who can stand next to Frank in a real bodybuilding contest.

zane was awesome, but i think some people are a lil biased about his physique because he has 3 sandows (and well deserved sandows) to his name.

yet i believe the year samir won (1983) his physique was better than zane's anyday. and in my opinion...lee labrada, who never won the olympia, has a much superior physique than zane.

I didnt make any comment as to who was better in the pics, I was just refuting the statement that the guys who stood on stage with zane made him look small.

haha so much ignorance in this post i cant even reply and the icing on the cake is you saying i have no idea. I'll just say a synthol free 18" arm at his height in contest condition is VERY big.

you always look smaller in pics then in real life, because pics are 2d and real life is a 3d image.. look at a pic of a pro on then go see what they look like in person..big diffrence.. zane would probably be huge in person and bigger then 99% of the people on this forum, give the guy some damn respect he was a mr. olympia, and 99% of you guys have never even stepped on stage.. you prolly just go and bench press every monday

Actually... Spot injections of IGF-1 will increase muscle size within that area, gains are very limited though if my memory serves me correctly.

Agreed 100%. I've seen this crap before so I may have gone off a bit, but it irks me when people talk about Zane's physique being "easily obtained naturally" and other insane statements as mentioned above.

Doesn't look that goofy..........sure I need to bring them up some bodyparts just grow like weeds others don't........I do hammer curls with 60lb dumb bells so I do beat the crap out of them.......just a stubborn muscle to grow for me

igf and hgh are completely different wtf are you even talkin about? yeah you have 17s but they're fat(compared to 6%), diet down to his condition and youll have 15s~ and nowhere near as conditioned.. he dosnt have 18s he has medium size delts, medium size forearms and it all comes together.

It does increase the volume of muscle fibres though, right? - pretty sure of that.

ok first off tek is right igf and gh are not the same thing...but from what i've read gh is best injected sub cutaneously because it can spot reduce fat, igf can be injected intramusculary and to be honest, I don't know if IGF spot increase muscle size....I doubt it though, I haven't heard anything to prove that. But what gh and igf are capable of doing that is unique to them, is cause hyperplasia, the creation of new muscle fibers. Anabolic steroids, working out, food, creatine, everything else can only add to the size of muscle fibers, causing hypertrophy, GH and IGF can actually create new muscle fibers.

and to tek....I don't know what to tell you man....anybody can tell Frank Zane at his prime has 18-19 inch biceps, but he didn't measure...so I guess we can't know for sure...but hey, if you wanna believe he had 15 inch guns go ahead lol

Knew i had seen it somewhere.

Apparently IGF-1 will increase the volume of muscle fibres within the muscle, it wont directly increase the mass of the muscle, but indirectly it will to a certain extent (growth is limited) - at least thats what these guys, and knowledgable members on at least 2 other boards (excluding this one) think about it.

I havent seen any studies or articles on it, but there seems to be different facts posted in different places so *shrug*

to be honest I was speaking with gh in mind, it is possible igf can spot increase muscle size....doesnt seem like there is a definitive answer yet....but yes at least indirectly it can through hyperplasia.

as for zane arm measurements.....Arnold had 19-20inch arms, Zane: you decide
