Lower Back Pain
I cannot deadlift without being in pain, its the only exercise in which the pain occurs. I've took a break from deadlifting for 2-3 months and after my second set today i was in total agony what can i do now to heal or prevent the pain?

1. Either your doing it wrong,
OR..
2. Your back isnt used to it and its just stiffening up.
IF its 2, youll get used to it..
It 1.. you need to learn to DL properly b4 you injure yourself

Definatly need to see a physiotherapist.
It's hard to tell you why you're in pain. However, it could be something serious.
Remember PAIN in any exercise is not good. I do belive howvere most people can tell the difference between a GOOD "burn" to a sore joint or pain in the disc?
See a proffesional. Don't waste time sitting on here looking for advice from untrained people.

Exactly the same thing happened to me...but I took up deadlifting again 2 weeks ago and I'm fine and it's going up like whoa.
Your lower back probably hurts because it's not strong enough, probably not just the muscles there but the connective tissue as well. You should strengthen your lower back. Doing squats is probably the best thing for this. You can also do back extensions.

Try doing Back Extensions ( http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exer...cle=Lower+Back ) strengthen your lower back, then after that try deadlifting again. But like kneedamage said make sure your doing it right or youll just injure yourself seriously.
EDIT: jejunum beat me to it i guess!

The thing you have to remember is that your INNER UNIT might be weak.
You have very good and large GLOBAL muscles, from what i can see in your DP.
But what you need to do (other then see a physio) is do some lower back work for the inner unit. (we all should)
Basically, muscles like the multifidus and erector spine ect. Strengthen them to help prevent stuff like buldgiing discs and slipped discs.
Time under tension is your friend. Ask a physio for some help or a Personal trainer in prescribing some exercises for you.
You definatly need to do them more then the average joe, becuase sitting down for long periods of time and gettig pain should not happen.
You need to work the whole core, this incluses, TVA, Pelvic Floor, Rectus abs, Multifidus, Erector Spine..
Sitting in a chair causes most people to turn off there core becuase they are supported in a chair. Thus creating a weakness.
Let us know how you go dude? I'd be interested in seeing the outcome!
Take care of yourself.

And what was 2-3 months of going to achieve apart from make you weaker??
If there is a problem you need to diagnose it and then manage it, not just leave it for months and hope something will magically happen.
